2006 dodge stratus heater wont stay hot unless moving new thermostat started after speedy lube oil change and engine clean

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

What do you mean "new thermostat started after..." Is your electric blower motor working? Maybe your hoses to the heater core are plugged. Flush cooling system.

Check coolant level in radiator with the engine cool...(take radiator cap off) speedy should have flushed the system for you, might be some crud blocking the heater mech. but most likely low on coolant....good luck to you

I have a 2002 Dodge Stratus with no heat should I change the thermostat or what???

Start by checking the coolant level. Then check the inlet and outlet hoses to the heater core. They should both be near the same temp. If one is hot and the other is cold, you have a plugged heater core. Here's a post with all the possibiliites in order

I have a 2003 Dodge stratus (2.4L), the car runs fine in the mornings, but later in the day, I'm smelling oil and the car idles rough and jerks, has cut off a couple of times, but after engine cools off,...

Your cooking the oil in the engine ( getting to hot/possible oil leak on top of engine). Check the front of the radiator for anything that will cause air not pass through the radiator. If you find any bugs/trash/or a build-up dust or dirt clean it out. Next check to see if the radiator and coolant recovery jug has any antifreeze in it. If not refill each to proper levels with a 50/50 mix antifreeze. Then if all is good run the car in the morning and as it is worming up put your hand on the upper radiator hose to feel if it is hot or cold. If the hose is hot and you can feel the antifreeze moving through the hose then the pump is working correctly. If not and the hose feels luke warm with no movement of fluid then the thermostat is stuck closed and will need to be replaced. Also you need to replace the engine coolant temperature sensor (ect) on engine. Hope this will help you.

I think I'm having an issue with the thermostat in my 2006 Dodge Stratus. It started running warmer than usual all of a sudden yesterday. I have had the oil changed and the fluids checked, the fans are...

Check the vacuum hoses

Check the egr system. Without proper mixture of carbon monoxide. It could be running hot . Your car would have a high idle because its getting air to feed the fire instead of the non burnable carbon monoxide. This would raise the temp too.
