Is this for a 1999 Forester or for a 2004 forester, the title lists both years. If it is a 1999 model then the problem most likely resides within the clock itself. Unfortunately, many clocks of this vintage go bad over time.
I offer a reasonable repair service and many clock removal instruction
sheets at www.autoclockrepair.com
I'd be happy to assist.
Wow to these answers.... its not that they are bad but how about checking the light bulb??
The clocks in these older Subaru's are notorious for giving an intermittent or dead display. The clock can be easily removed and inexpensively repaired at www.subaru-clock.com.
If the clock is a standalone in the dashboard, then there is a problem with it. You may have to replace it with a new one.
Just a thought. Most of us proud Subaru drivers leave our headlights on all the time. If the instument lights are turned dim it does not allow the radio light to be visible. Seems the radio light is naturally dimmer than the instuments and when we dim the light it turns the radio light off. Try to turn up dim switch. Good luck and have a great day.
