My 2006 GMC Yukon XL Denali 6.0L is over heating and the interior heat does not work. Is this the water pump or is there a thermostat sticking? I'm in the mountains and thought maybe something was frozen the vehicle water temperature rises fine however there is no heating in the cab. It is ususally parked in garage but has been in below zero temperatures for several nights. Is it possible a line is frozen.

What is the optimal operating temp of a 2006 yukon xl denali 6.0 motor. A friend stated that if the t-stat valve is open is will have more power but I want/need more fuel efficiency!!!! So its got 80k miles should I just change it anyway? the temp is running 150-under 200 on gauge?

There is a fitting on the intake that feeds a pipe/hose combination that gets clogged real easy by the coolant that GM uses(coolant is called DEXCOOL) if you don't flush your cooling system every 25-30 thousand miles or every 2 years this stuff cakes up the cooling system and causes all sorts of problems from leaks to overheating etc,etc,etc,...Make sure your cooling system is full while running engine and that the coolant is flowing thru the system.at normal operating temp.your upper and lower radiator hoses should feel the same temp.

Overheating can be caused by stuck shut t-stat but u would have heat at-stat stuck open no overheating and no heat. a waterpump that the impeller broke or rotted of can cause your problem but rarly seen does your fan work or any leakage or low coolant can cause air pocket and overheating no heat. let me know and we go foward

2006 Yukon Denali XL the radio stays on as well as the battery symbol on the dash and the dash lights and the heated seats buttons also light up with the car off and locked keys out of ignition

Yes that's normal. it should go off as soon as you open the door though. if it doesn't then they will go off when timer expires (normally about 90 seconds) after you leave the car.

2006 GMC Yucon Denali XL driver and passenger heated seats work intermittently. Dealer diagnosed a switch problem but quoted $1,000 to repair. Seeking the part and repair instructions.

Get yourself a repair manual on ebay, they cost less than a tank of gas. If the dealer told you which part is bad, then have him order it for you, this is not going to be a parts store item. This is a really common problem, like sitting on a toaster or electric blanket that you keep outside and use every day.
Anything that gets hot and cold over and over is going to get brittle and break.

My 2004 yukon denali only heats up once i start driving, and starts to blow cold air when i stop or it idles. thinking it may need a new thermostat

Yes, it sounds like your thermostat is stuck in the open position.

Your thermostat is located under a metal housing on the top of the engine. The upper radiator hose connects to this housing. To change the thermostat you basically need to drain the radiator after your engine is cold, disconnect the upper radiator hose from the engine, and remove the bolts from the small housing. replace the thermostat, and clean the surfaces on both sides and replace the gasket too. reinstall the housing, attach the hose, and refill the radiator. start the engine, warm it up and check for leaks, then re check the coolant level after the engine cools off again
