if you hare having problems going passed 3k then there is a sensor fault could be a cam or weak crank sensor it would be best to have the codes read from the ecu, if you have had any work done to the engine bay i would check around the area that has been worked on. might of pulled a wire or a plug to a sensor etc.

Ok may be more than one fault here
Firstly the brake lights may be down to a fulty brake light switch
this is under the brake pedal.
Secondly the Starting issue could be several things
Fuel cut off switch engaged
Faulty spark plugs
Sticking/faulty starter motor
Fuel filter blocked (common reason for non starting and doesent give a fault code).
Fuel pump faulty or faulty/loose wiring at pump
Unlikley to be anything to do with the ecu as it turns over and no fault codes.

Have you had an oil pressure switch replaced recently ? If so the problem is probably the engine wiring loom,what happens is the oil leaks into the loom and ends up at the plugs for the ECU and the coil pack and crank sensors,meaning they all need to be replaced.

worked on many Zafira's but never came across this problem,however i would definately test the battery.It would help to know some history ie,how long have you had the vehicle, did you buy it with this fault,did the fault just suddenly appear.If so have you recently had any work done accessories fitted? or driven through unusual conditions. If all the above comes up negative disconnect the battery for about 15 mins this should send all computers/ecu to sleep.reconnect battery to reboot/reset ecu plus other modules.appart from that make sure all battery connections and earth points are clean and tight, Best of luck

Some cars with an ecu have a default setting whereby they run but only at idle. Go to your local Vauxhall dealer, look sweet and ask the service people if they can offer any idea, I mean the mechanics not the counter staff who generally don't know a handbrake from a halfshaft.
Or go on line and scour the astra owners helplines to see if its a common problem.
Don't spend a penny in a garage without checking all possible areas first. Like the other answer, it may just be a cable or electrical plug come off.

i would imagine that this is a fault with the speedo head itself and this is a specialist repairer for the head assembly although sometimes its cheaper to get another head from a accident damaged vehicle but what ever you do make sure you disconnect battery first as i do know that these astras and vectras with the zaffira can and do give problems with the ECU thats bolted to the inlet manifold if anything is touched electrically without disconnecting the battery even a faulty coil pack will damage the ECU giving no end of problems so whilst its running ok buy a harry moss stick on thermometer from halfords and leave it well alone .

Been having error 174 on my astra j 2010, for about a month, with no idea apart from it being a voltage issue, finally the car would not start this morning 23.12.2021 turning over but not fireing up. AA called out as have home start. He tried every thing from plugs, coil pack, injectors, it was wanting to start, but she wasnt having it so he started further investigation of fuses, and all was good. Connected computer up and no errors. But the engine heat sensor was coming up with 104° but the car was cold. So disconnected the sensor plug and the car started with the fan running
temp went to 112°. But the instrument panel said normal. New sensor was sort and fitted all is okay now. The old sensor was showing signs of corrosion. Fault 174 no longer comes up. All fixed for under £40.00.

poss ECU fault ,common on these, but you need to change both coil packs at same time, programing is easy , fit ecu + coil packs run till rad fan cuts in+out 3 times then hold at 3000 rpm for 30 secs.
