How often should I have maintenance done on my air conditioner?

You should clean the indoor unit filter at least once a month, pressure wash the condenser coil every quarter, and clean the evaporator coil and fans every year.

2002 cadillac saville the air filter is wet with coolant why?

A wet air filter indicates a problem within the cooling system which should be addressed as soon as possible before it gets worse or leads to other system failures. Running your cooling system with a wet air filter reduces energy efficiency.
Causes of a Wet Filter An air conditioner condenses humidity from the air on its evaporator coil. The cold refrigerant circulates through the coil, and as the warm air indoors contacts it, the refrigerant absorbs the heat changing it to a gas, then back to a liquid to facilitate the cooling process. Condensation on the coils drips into a pan to be drained away through a drainpipe. The drain pan can sometimes become clogged, and the filter can eventually absorb water.
Left wet, the filter will not be able to do its job, and reduced airflow, whether from water, results in less cooling and higher energy bills. Another result of a wet filter is the creation of an environment that is ideal for mold growth, which may even spread to other parts of your system and your home. If the system was not properly installed, this could also lead to the filter becoming wet.
Remedies When the air conditioning system is not draining properly, the condensate pan and drainpipe need to be cleaned. If the clog is obvious in either the pan or the drainpipe, go ahead and remove it. Otherwise you will need to contact your HVAC contractor who has tools to clean and clear more difficult or hard to reach clogs.
When the technician evaluates your cooling system, he or she will be able to assess how well it was installed and whether it needs to be modified. The technician can also recommend the intervals between checking the air filter and scheduling professional maintenance. Regular maintanence is one effective way to prevents clogs and system malfunctions.

Pollen filter

The filter will clean most of the pollen and other particles up. Just be sure to clean or replace the filter regularly. Some modern air conditioners will let you know when they think the s dirty and needs to be replaced usually located in the front if u have allergies id say wear a mask and if u talking about a car it's under dashboard u can't miss it

Toyota Corolla 1995. Quality of air conditioner reduced when stopped (traffic light) or moving at slow speed (condenced city traffic) No problem on the highway. Checked freon gas and fan. Understand that...

Normal, the ac heat exchanger condenser need air moving across the fins to remove the heat. While moving in town the condenser isn't remove the meat that is building up the it's aluminum fins. Even though the vehicle uses an electric fan. The fan is used to cool the engine temperature. If you Toyota is equip-ed with automatic transmission. The electric fan will need to pull enough air to cool the engine temperature, automatic transmission fluid, air conditioner condenser, and maybe power steering condenser to cool the power steering fluid. Later model of vehicles/trucks are using different refrigerants instead R134A in which you Toyota uses.

The simples way to explain is the ac remove heat from inside your Toyota and this heat is removed by the refrigerants inside your ac in the car. To cool the refrigerant this coolant is removed to the heat exchanger condenser located in front of the engine radiator. So, while moving at 60mph there is enough air flow through the radiator, ac head condenser, and other aluminum heat exchangers. GB...stewbison

My engine light has come on. leaking coolant slightly by hoses. also how important is it to get a system cleaning, change air filter and water pump at 60000?

1. The leaky coolant hoses will only deteriorate further and need to be replaced before a serious leak occurs and you overheat and damage your engine.

2. It's very important to carry out all scheduled maintenance on your vehicle as recommended by the manufacturer as well as attending to additional maintenance issues that will arise.

Cooling systems need to be flushed out and refilled with the correct specification new coolant every 2 years. It is very important that all air is bled from the cooling system when coolant is changed as failure to do this properly can cause air locks in the cooling system and result in overheating and engine damage.

Water pumps wear and fail and if not replaced will result in your engine overheating and very expensive engine damage will be the result. The cooling system thermostat should also be changed when the water pump is changed.

Maintenance of the engine's cooling system is extremely important and, if neglected, will certainly result in engine damage.

3. It is important to change the engine's air filter element as these clog up with fine dust impairing air flow to the engine for combustion. Once the filters begin to clog the engine will run very inefficiently and poorly and your fuel consumption will increase. You will end up burning your dollars on extra fuel when all you needed to do was replace a cheap part. These filters should be changed every 12 -18 months (more often than the car manufacturer usually states). On most cars the air filters are a very inexpensive item and very easy to change over.

My heated/air cooled seats do not work

You may try cleaning the filters and checking for loose connections. Heat and cooling filters should be changed or cleaned with some regularity. Like an air conditioner, these things require maintenance that are often overlooked.
