2001 mitsubishi eclipse. Automatic transmission

2001 mitsubishi eclipse. Automatic transmission stopped working while driving. Acts as if it were in neutral regardless of gear selected. There was no warning so I wonder if it's an electronic sensor or something similar. Any help would be appreciated.

Transmission may be low on transmission fluid or the transmission fluid pump failed. If it's electrical, you can still get it in to gear, but would not shift gears. Good luck and keep me posted, check transmission fluid level and have the transmission line pressure tested. Before that check all your fuses.

The slip disks in your automatic transmission and some synchronizers are worn out. Your transmission needs to be overhauled and repaired.

Probably the wave spring washer which is a common failure on these transmissions. Check the pan for metal parts if this happens. You'll have to replace it if so, but make sure they use the updated, thicker washer (part # 2741A007).

I have a 2001 eclipse and i can't find the transmission filter to change it. i just bought the car.

Hello. Stop looking. The transmission filter on the older eclipses was changed. The 2001 has an internal screen pickup. It is not servicable unless the transmission is disassembled. There is no reason to service it.

I have a eclipse 96 I tried to repair the

did you change fluid and filter this is just as important as an engine oil change. also a automatic transmission has things called bands that change the gears and hold overdrive in they also need adjusting every 30,000 miles. if not they will cause your transm, ission to slip. and burn up atf fluid.
