Look at the arms u may have to pull a plate of to see the arms under the hood close to the windshield make sure they are still in tack also see if they may be strip or someting may have gotten jammed leaves etc
It sounds like the slave link that connects the driver side pivot to the passenger side pivot needs to be replaced. This link, along with the master link, which connects the motor output crank to the driver side pivot, is located in the wiper module. You'll have to remove the wiper module from the car in order to service.

Most likely it is the linkage between the driver and passenger blade arms. The easiest way to find out is to remove the cowling and look...you should see the wiper motor, the motor arm that links to the driver arm and the linkage between the driver arm and passenger arm...this is held together by a plastic clip and that clip is most likely going to be broken when you look...it's fairly easy to replace.
