89 camaro starts wont crank when it does wont idle and dies after 3000 rpm when you hold accelerator

Could be a problem with the pickup coil in the bottom of the distributor if equipped. The pickup coil provides the crank signal for the injectors and ignition module.
Did you clear the code and then 53 came back ?
On most models code 53 means the computer or one of the components is getting over 13 volts.

Ran out of gas at the pump and car want start a message pop up on the odomeyer that says error never had problems with this car before thinking it maye need to reset the code

Yes, sometimes what happens when you run out of gas, and error will come up, it normally will shut off fuel pump, and things of that sort as not to burn things out. Sometimes you get lucky and after filling take fuel cap off and put back on. Another thing I have done, is disconnected the battery, and the hooked it back up after a few minutes and the code went off like resetting it. It is nothing to overly worry about, if error is there after running out of gas, its just a error saying, HEY, you have no fuel and your pump has nothing to pump. Try first the battery disconnect thing, if not almost any auto place, can reset your computer. Thanks Mike

Can I use a regular 87 unleaded instead of a 91 premium gas on my 1996 honda prelude? Will it damage, decrease the life span of my engine? Lose performance as well?

yes u can but you will loose performance and fuel mileage, it will really not be worth the few cents more you pay, if you use the midgrade 89 octane that is a better choice.

89 Honda Prelude failing emissions rich

is everything stock? and you have catalitic converter in place?

Stop by Schucks auto supply and have them run the codes. i'm sure there is a code if you cant pass emissions. your check engine light bulb is probably out.

and usually the first cause is the first o2 sensor.

Replaced in/tank fuel pump.

I have had problems with my 89 prelude. I found that the problem wasn't with the fuel pump, rather the master relay. You will have voltage at the fuel pump with the fuel pump dicconnected, but when you connect the pump and put a electrical load on the circuit, the voltage drops. check current with the pump running and see if this is the case.
