A "Timing Chain" should last the life of the engine, as long as you change oil according your car makers recommendations. A "Timing Belt" is another story they are usually good for about 80,000 to 100,000 miles.

How long will a timing chain last on suzuki vitara

what a great question. and very easy , really.
stock chains or aftermarket???????
last in years, or miles>>???????
in town , short years, car not moving , but chain is, at Stop signs.
on highway many miles.
miles:
a china clone chain will not last.
a top brand will last.
most last for 250k miles or more.
if you chain oil on time. all cars made. all engines with chains.

or what ever FATE decides.
There are also CHAIN GUIDES, if a GUIDE fails
the chain wips and guess what, DIES soon,.
so its not just a chain , it is a system or parts that work together.

How long should a timing chain last ?

Assuming there are no defects in the chain, it should last a minimum of 100,000 miles and probably longer. With a defect in the chain, it might not last long enough to get to the grocery store.

How to fix sorento timing chain noise, i have replace the timing chain but still have not fix the problem.

Those KIA are dropping like flys on here,
the last week or so

The repair shop should have bulletins in their
data base & experience with that

Need to find those things out before you buy

Sorry - I never knew until last week
Kias had all the problems they do

Try Googling the question
Try You Tube Video
Try KAI Blogs

I have an 04 lincoln with many more chains than you

I think all that is caused by going too long
with oil changes & not knowing what oil has
been installed

I have a 2003 Nissan Altima. Do I have a timing Chain or Belt. How long does the timing chain last? I have 195,000 miles on my car.

Timing chain. Normally they will last for at least 150,000 miles or longer. If it becomes noisy or car is hard to start, backfires, or performance is sub-par have it checked.

My car has 144,500 miles n i dont think the timing chain has been checked would it be wise to get it looked at when i get it inspected next yr

The timing chain usually lasts a long time, and if you don't hear a lot of rattling, it's probably ok.

Timinig belts(replace every 80,000 mi.) seem to wear out faster than timing chains which when properly maintained through oil changes can last for the life of the car's engine.

I expect to get about 200,000 mi. on my 1990 Cadillac Deville which has a timing chain in it, and has just gotten to 192,000 mi. recently.

relax -- the nicest thing about a timing chain is that it should last as long as the engine does . . .

chains are made to last for the life of the engine at 200k you might want to check the chain guides tha'ts all. you are thinking of the belts they had to be changed at about 80k.

When is it reccomended to change your timming belt on a 2000 GMC seirra z71

These vehicles actually have a timing chain, not timing belt. These chains obviously last much longer than belts. These last till about 200,000 miles, then you start experiencing chain tensioner slap, then it's time to replace that little puppy.I hope I could help.Get back to me with any questions.Thx.
