My 93 plym voyager, 3.0 has a hesitation when

My 93 plym voyager, 3.0 has a intermittent hesitation when accelerateing. i've changed fuel pump&filter, egr valve, dist cap&rotor, plugs &wires, fuel inj cleaner, new vacuum hoses.......runs like my old 78chevy p/u when it's cold& the choke's not working. i'm thinking maybe the map sensor is bad.

If your having cold engine start hesitation, you need to check the engine temp switch,it tells the computer how cold it is,so the engine can adjust to a rich start and not a lean one.if the switch is faulty and the computer is being told it is 80degrees,you will not get a rich mixture like no choke at all

The two things I'd be looking at would be the fuel pump, and the transmission. By all means check your transmission fluid. Whereas it is good to check your map sensor, but that and the first oxygen sensor (by the intake manifold) would both need to have issues and that usually throws a code. Is your check engine light on?

How is your charging system? Sounds to me like it's not charging your battery, so it runs until the battery cannot support the ignition load.

Where is the fuel filter on a 1990 plym. voyager. is it on the fire wall somewhere ?

your fuel filter will be in line between the gas tank and the engine. It is usually under the drivers side door. Follow the fuel line from the gas tank to the engine and somewhere along the way you will see a barrel shaped metal object that is about as big around as a golf ball. That is your fuel filter. Be sure to pinch off your lines so you dont leak gas everywhere.

Park up a hill if you can, that usually helps to minimize fuel loss.

I have a 1996 Plym. Grand Voyager, hesitation & stalling.

If it works well at speed and acts up when slowing or stopped it doesn't sound like fuel filter or pump. You can try running injector cleaner through the engine to clean the carborator injectors or fuel injectors if you have those. Look at replacing the plugs and wires on the motor.

Have someone press on the gas petal while you feel the exhaust coming out of the tail pipe.It should have more exhaust coming out as the petal is pressed farther down. This method is checking for a restriction in your catalitic converter. A high flow type is best. Also make sure your air filter is clean and nothing blocking your air filters intake.

Hesitates on acceleration

Does the car always hesitate during acceleration? If it ALWAYS struggles when it starts or ALWAYS hesitates on acceleration then I would say the issue is fuel delivery. If the problems are more intermittent and come-and-go then it could be an electrical issue.

I would start by changing the fuel filter. Changing plugs, wires, cap, and rotor are all good things to do as your budget will allow. I doubt you will have to change your injectors.

If you end up replacing any rubber fuel line, be sure to use the high-pressure stuff made for use on fuel injected cars.

I hope this helps! -Nick

2004 dodge caravan 2.4 Hesitates during Acceleration and at idele

You should definitely replace the fuel filter though this probably won't fix your hesitation. It wouldn't hurt to replace the spark plugs this is usually the culprit on these engine. I have the same engine in a '99 caravan and found the for some reason the spark plugs on cylinder 3 and 4 loosen up after one year and cause a misfire between 45 and 50 mph under load (when mildly accelerating).

Hesitation on Acceleration or Uphill.

The knock is caused by either timing issue or a lean cylinder condition, have you checked the fuel pressure?? has the fuel filter been changed?? A bad knock sensor will not set a light unless it is open or disconnected.
