Rear of car is so low it covers the top of the tires what happend? This is a 96 Lincoln Mark viii. Air pressure of tires air fine.

AIR COMPRESSOR TO AIR RIDE IS POWERED DOWN.

Compressor is located on the right front febder well.

oil pressure too low,check oil level,tune up,fuel filter,air filter.

There should be a level switch in the rear of the car.The connector may have come unplugged,or filled with water.or maybe the switcch is bad.Or,it could be as simple as a disonnected or broken link arm at the switch.

Unfortunately, it sounds like the air compressor for your air ride system is not working. But before you replace make sure that the height sensors haven't gone out which would bleed deflate the bags. I have a 96 Mark VIII and have had to replace the rear bags and two height sensors and the air compressor so far, but when they work as designed they are a very smooth ride. A friend went with the replacement non-air ride and there is a big difference in how it rides.

check the sensor in the dash near the controls looks like a tiny vent see if it has dust build up

under the car at rear near gas tank, round can shaped filter.

Hi, yes, I have replaced the air-suspension on a personal towncar sedan I owned with coils and I can say the ride was rough, you can use softer tires and a lower psi in tire to make the ride a little bit smoother, noisy because the rear axle was not designed for a coil to rest on it, so the coils "rub" on the axle when traveling over bumps, and the shocks should be replaced with new heavy-duty but soft type. If it's just the driver and a few passengers, this conversion will work, if you don't mind a rougher ride. BUT if your towing anything or have the trunk and passenger area loaded, the rear will sink, but most likely the tires will not touch the wheel well unless your towing a boat or camper or hit a big hole on the road.

Air bag replacement should be done by your dealer or other pro as they can inflate on connection if everything isn't right.
