2001 chevy silverado steering wheel vibration problem

My 2001 chevy silverado truck has a steering wheel vibration between 30 and 40 mph. I checked the u joint, wheel alignment, and wheel balancing and they are ok. What else could it be?? Thanks

I don't think so, I was told that it could be that the driveshaft is out of balance. but there is only vibration at that speed, Thanks, I'll check the road force of the tire.

90% of the time a vibration is a tire. You say they were balanced, BUT did they check the road force of the tire/wheel?

defective tires will cause this as well as wheel balance and bent wheels

Bent alloy, bent steel rim, broken belting inside of tire(caused from hitting a good size hole). lug nuts not torqued to correct ft lbs, outer or inner tie rods, toe/ cmber out of adjustment. Are the tires wearing? If not, forget the camber/toe

2000 Cheverolet Silverado vibration at 50 mph.

Hello Doug.
There are a few things that will cause vibrations.
But the 50 MPH mark is the point where wheel balance seems to show up consistently.
Bad universal joints, a tire with a belt separated, a driveshaft out of balance show up at lower speeds.
Other less common items are brakes shoes and pads not fully releasing.
Best place to begin is the wheel balance though. You could begin by verifying the inner part of the wheel isn't built up with dirt or if in a colder climate, ice and snow.
Hope this helps you out.

Vibration in the steering wheel on a 4wd truck

I just had the same issue with a 1999 2500HD and the vibration got worse above 50 mph. Problem was resolved with a new driveshaft. Old one (aluminum) was badly out of true and the problem didn't really occur until I had the U joints changed - then bent driveshaft vibration was noticeable. New driveshaft resolved issue.

Car shaking and vibrating at 55 mph. and does it again at 65-70.

Hi:
Since your BMW 540 series is a rear wheel drive car, a common cause of that sort of vibration is often the U joints on your drive shaft. The vibration often only shows up and certain speeds.

It isn't a particularly expensive repair, but is something to have checked out!
