I put an aftermarket driver seat in my 2002 mazda protege 5. I'm under the impression all airbags no longer function without the original seat in. Is there any solution to keep the aftermarket seat while having the rest of the airbags function?

Disconnect the battery form the car. Remove the airbag fuse under the bonnet. Do the bumper replacement then re-install the fuse before putting the battery back in.

Depends what year if has diagnostic or not always check wires seat belt and clickers first clean connected under seat

no. it automaticly locks. it;'s a safety feature, bunch of ********, to make you waste money. but it's true. you need to replace it. the manufacturer designed it that way. no joke.

check the recall list for auto, take it to a dealer and tell them problem, a reputable dealer will will repair without conflict. If not report problem to mazda and express this safety item is not working . good luck.

look under the hood at the fuse panel and in the car at the fuse panel if that is the only issue.

Not really, you just need to be carefull not to brake the plastic covers but you can get them separate than use a thin spanner and you should be able to do it without removing the seat.

IF THE CONECTOR ON THE END IS THE SAME THEN IT WILL WORK AND THE COLORS DO NOT MATTER. YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE THAT THE CONECTORS ON THE END ARE THE SAME THE AFTERMARKET SUPPLIER DOES NOT USE THE SAME COLORS AS THE FACTORY. A LOT OF TIMES THAT IS HOW WE KNOW WHEN AN AFTERMARKET PART IS USE.

replacement of timing belt $350-$500. aftermarket shops will try to sell you a package containg a belt, water pump, and tensioner pulley. the dealer will just replace the belt, they might recommend to replace the water pump if there are alot of miles on the car, they will also inspect the pulley for wear.
