or try the following general codes:

How do i reset the esp ecu on my 2006 mercedez cls 500?

Disclaimer:
Please take your car to a professional to reset the ECU.
READ THIS ENTIRE PROCEDURE BEFORE GETTING STARTED

The difererence between having the dealer reset your ECU and you doing it is that the dealer only clears the faults, the ECU has a memory, so when you reset your ECU, it must basically re-calibarte itself and learn about all your car's systems from scratch.

BEGINNING Steps:
1. Center your steering wheel.
2. Make sure your windows are all the way up
3. Make sure your sun roof is completely closed
4. make sure your parking brake is released
6. Turn off your stereo.
7. Make sure you have your stereo's Anti-theft code
8. Turn off your heat/AC blower
9. Turn off your lights
10. Make sure your doors are UNLOCKED.

Reset Steps:
Open your trunk and disconnect the negative side of your battery, wait 60 seconds and re-connect it.

AFTER the RESET

Turn the key to position 2 (DO NOT START YOUR ENGINE)

1. Reseting your windows: Run windows down to the dwn/up full stop, then hold an extra 5 seconds (you might have to run these to the full up/dwn position an inch at a time, just keep going until you hit full open/closed position, then hold an additional 5 seconds). This re-enables the "auto up/dwn". Do the same thing with the sunroof. If it didn't work for the sunroof, then try this: remove the sunroof fuse, then re-insert it. then do the same procedure as above.

2. Turn on your blower and make both sides go to 72 deg. by pressing both up and down buttons at the same time. This should help calibrate the ECU

3. Turn on your stereo and enter your stereo code. if you do not have a code, you'll have to get it from the dealer. or perform endless searches on the web for a fix for that.

5. Turn all of the lights on and off, including your fog lights

6. Turn the key back to position 0.

7. Turn on your engine. You will get 2 malfunctions, your ABS and ESP, These systems must be calibrated. Calibrate your ABS and ESP systems by turning the steering wheel all the way to your RIGHT and then all the way to your LEFT. then bring it back to the center. The errors should go away from your instrument cluster.

8. Let your car run at idle for about 5 minutes and then take it for a spin. Remember your ECU is still getting all the readings from all the sensors, so drive slowly first then faster... and so on.. you are basically your ECU is re-learning your car.

Hope this helps, and remember, you are doing this at your own risk!

How do I do a Diagnostic System Check? Is this

If you can visit one autozone shop, they can read or scanning your OBD codes.

Codes are displayed on digital odometers on newer models. On many 2001 and newer models, holding in the trip odometer reset button while turning the key to RUN will start a self test, with a readout on the odometer. It will also activate all instrument panels, one at a time. We do not know if this will show computer codes, or whether it only tests the instrument panels. At the end, it may show a few odd codes that are firmware versions and not error codes.

On most cars, the codes will read out if the engine light is on - all you have to do is put the key into the RUN position.

Normally, to get codes, you put the key on OFF and then rapidly do OFF-ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON (on some cars you have to do four or five, not three, OFF-ON cycles). On our test 2002 car, the key did not go back to unlock, so it was ACC-ON-ACC-ON-ACC-ON.

    • You may have to have the parking brake firmly set for the codes to show! (Thanks, Steven Midway)
    • Jon Yoon: The 1998 Caravan does the same check engine light code trick, but it also does an instrument diagnostic check if you hold the trip and reset buttons and turn the key to the run position and wait 5 seconds. This helped me figure out that my input and output speed sensors were broken but the actual speedometer dial could move.
    • For the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee and up, you do the switching the key on and off 3 times, but not quickly. You turn it to on so the odometer turns on, turn it off, and then back on, wait for the light to turn on, etc. On the fourth time you'll get a code, or you'll get the word "done." (Monica MacDonald)
A loose gas cap may light up the Check Engine light! (Thanks, Lyn Clark)
    • When the computer indicates major failure, it can activate Limp In mode, which guesses about data to compensate for sensor failure, allowing you to get the car to a mechanic. One major symptom of this is the transmission sticking in second gear. This is a feature!
    • 2002 Ram, put transmission in neutral, parking brake on, then do the acc-run key sequence 3 times.
    • Dan Stewart wrote about the 1999+ Voyager/Caravan with digital gear selection display:
      • There are 2 functions that can be accomplished with the key-on sequence. Get Diagnostic Trouble Codes by placing the key into the ignition. Push and hold the both the "Trip" and the "Reset" buttons with the left hand and turn the key to the "ACC" position (first position between "LOCK" and "RUN"). Continue to hold both buttons in and count to 5. Release both buttons, display should read trip mileage instead of total mileage. Push the "TRIP" button and the odometer will display DTC'S in rotating sequence instead of displaying total mileage.
      • The second function is an instrumentation diagnostic. Place key into ignition, press and hold both "TRIP" and "RESET" while turning the key to the "RUN" position. Continue to hold both buttons in until odometer displays "CODE". Release buttons. The display will then display "999". Afterward it will display "CHECK 0" and test the analog gauges. It will then display "CHECK 1" and test the digital displays

    RESET THE COMPUTER
Normally the computer will eventually reset itself; you can also use a scan tool. (See our transmission repair page for information on resetting the computer's transmission information.) Disconnecting the battery for a few minutes generally resets the computer, though it also means losing clock settings.
Sid Willoughby wrote: “To clear the check engine light on a 2002 Dodge Ram once the problem is resolved. Start the engine and drive forward then in reverse (you only have to move the truck a few feet in each direction) the turn the ignition off. Do this sequence three times. When you start the vehicle the fourth time the check engine light should go out.” (This procedure may well work on other vehicles.)

CODE LIST 2001 which covers some vehicles from the late 1990s as well as newer ones. It shows the longer codes starting with the letter P.

Hope this help (remember comment and rated this).

How do I reset the service engine soon light on 2001 Olds Silhouette

A diagnostic scanner that reads OBD1 (the system by which your vehicle processes trouble codes) will be required, many parts stores do this a s a free service. Check with them to see if they charge. Remember though, when they read the car and turn the light off that in order for the light to stay off, the problem must be fixed. Even if it was a one time fluke of a problem, get the code that their scanner gives them so that you know what the issue is.

My readio reads off how do i trun it back on to put the code in. my kid put the worng cod in three times and now it reads off instead of cod. pleas help

i read a solution online that said just turn car on, but don't actually turn over the engine, then turn the stereo and let it read off for 1 hour. The car has to sit in this idle state for one solid, continuous hour, then the screen should go blank. Turn on the stereo system again and it is once again read for the code to be input.

    Hi there,

There's one more thing you can try. On a Mk4 VW, you can reset the service indicator by doing the following:

    - With the ignition off, press and hold the tripmeter reset button (on the right side of the dash)
    - Turn on your ignition, wait for all the warning lights to come on, then let go of the tripmeter button
    - Where your trip distance is normally shown, the display will read "OIL".
    - To reset the service interval, turn the clock adjust switch (left side) for about 5 seconds. The trip meter display will change to "---" indicating the code has been reset.

You can verify this by turning the car off and on again. Let me know if that worked out for you.
