Engine stops running as if turned off by a switch. Turns over very easily but will not restart. When it does start, it only runs for short period of time then stops again. Seems as if it may be the fuel pump, ECM, or ignition switch. Any ideas?

Some fans do keep running after engine is switched off for a short period of time (up to 5 minutes) Check with a service person (ford) to see if that is the case or if you have a faulty sensor.
OK.....if the starting system is ok, and it turns over, this could be one of 2 things......fuel sytem or ignition system............one thing I would be checking with this model is the rollover switch...these do become a problem unfortunatley.....
Ford did install these so that when the vehilce rolled over, the inertia switch would stop the engine from running and being restarted........if you look behind the passenger side front kickboard, you may have to "fgently" proy it away....you will notice a square little box type thing with a push switch on top...push this down and attempt to restart.........
there is an after run module controlled by a fan switch that will run the fan if the engine compartment is hot.the switch could be shorted,or the module is bad.the fan normally runs for a few minutes then turns off.
Hey, 2 words.....Voltage Regulator! i had this problem and before you spend too much, check and make sure that your fan is grounded b/c most must be and then try an actual Diagnosas check normally around $80 but is does pin point whats wrong. Either Voltage regulator or you have a short.
