I need to know what color the power wire is on the headlight switch on a 2001 Dodge Dakota.

In a 2001 Dodge Dakota, the color of the power wire on the headlight switch can vary depending on the specific wiring configuration of your vehicle. However, in many cases, the power wire is typically orange. Keep in mind that automotive wiring colors can sometimes differ between vehicles due to variations in manufacturing and wiring harnesses.

For the most accurate and reliable information, I recommend referring to the wiring diagram specific to your vehicle. You can find this information in the vehicle's service manual, which can be obtained through repair manuals, automotive databases, or by reaching out to a Dodge dealership or automotive repair shop. If you're not comfortable working with automotive wiring, it's advisable to seek assistance from a professional mechanic to avoid any electrical issues.

Have 2002 dodge dakota and brake lights don't work-have changed brake switch, checked bulbs, checked the 15 amp fuse and it's ok. what next?

Did you use a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter an test for B+ voltage to the brake light switch ? Who cares if the fuse looks good , if there is No battery + voltage on either side of the fuse it's not going to work . Looking at a wiring diagram to know which wires to check an using a volt meter to test is the proper way to diagnose .

Brake controller or trailer brakes connections or brake light to run system

The brake switch at the pedal does have six wires, but none go to the multifunction switch (on the steering column). The white wire with tan tracer goes to the combination flasher to be integrated with the turn signals/hazard lights. The combination flasher is under the dash next to the steering column and has a sixteen pin connector (ten of which have wires).

I am wiring a trailer with electric brakes. I need a diagram of my 2005 dodge dakota 7-way trailer plug, so I can figure out how to wire the trailer. Thank you.

This is for a 2003, but trailer wiring is typically standard. Only the AUX and center pin on occasion are wired for different functions:
Center: Back-up Lamps (VT/BK)
1-o'clock: Battery (RD/TN)
3-o'clock: Stop/Right Turn (BK/PK)
5-o'clock: Electric Brake (LB)
7-o'clock: Ground (BK)
9-o'clock: Stop/Left Turn (DG/RD)
11-o'clock: Running Lights (BK/OR)

Helpful Wiring Information when hard wiring your brake control:
Run two wires to the battery:
White - Ground
Black - Power
Blue - Run to Electric Brakes at the Rear Plug
Red - Run to cold side of brake switch off of the brake pedal (using a test light to find the cold side)
Note: Always wire the red wire to the heaviest gauge wire when testing cold side of brake switch.
