I have a 1987 Ford Ranger that I replaced the Clutch, Flywheel, Slave and Master cylinder. The problem I am having is the clutch wont bleed properly. I have tried multiple times and it will build pressure but then bleeds off shortly afterwards. I have a constant stream of fluid from the Slave. Truck will only go into gear after pumping pedal repeatedly. I am thinking there may still be air in the master or slave but am completely lost at this point, and dont want to remove tranny again to bleed. Any Suggestions?

Bleeder valve is usually located on slave cylinder, which in your case is part of throw out bearing assembly.Follow hose down from clutch master cylinder.Where it goes into slave cylinder bleeder is right next to it.

Hi there if clutch master and slave cylinders are operating with full pressure and clutch fork push rod moves to full release, Then clearly the problem points to a faulty clutch specifically pressure plate or damaged clutch fork.

air might be in the clutch need to bleed it and see if that does it
these newer cars have a clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder, when ya mash it flid moves the slave to depress clutch fork and release pressure plate from flywheel. if its ait in the thang it wont release check brake fluid level in clutch master fill it up with recommended brake fluid for your clutch

Ford has special bleeding and blocking instructions for clutch slave. Check manual for proper bleeding requirements. May consider presurre bleeding of master cylinder or use master cyclinder bleeding tubes that fill the resevoir as you bleed the and remove all air in system.

I would check for a restriction between the Clutch Master Cyl. & the Clutch Slave Cylinder. I don't know if it's cold where you are but I've experienced a few Clutch slave cylinders that seemed to freeze, leak out & then continue to leak until replaced. Undoubtedly due to moisture in the systems. You could have a helper assist you in bleeding the slave cylinder, if you notice resistance at first, there could be something in the line from when the previous Master cylinder went bad that just got lodged in the system & didn't show up until now.

If you have no pressure whatsoever, lodging isn't the issue, attempt to bleed the system & then look for leaks at the boot of the slave cylinder. This will also confirm that the Clutch Master Cylinder is functioning properly.

The trans will need to come out. While your at it, just replace the clutch assembly, rear main oil seal, resurface the flywheel, and the clutch master cyl. Its not really a job you should do, find a repair shop to handle it.

Take the top off the master cyl and slowly very slow push in on the clutch and watch for any bubbles comming up.Replace the top and pump pressure and bleed at the master direct by using the lines for bleeders.

You have air in the hydraulic system, sometimes there is a funky bleeding routine. I hade a Ford Ranger and you had to pump up the clutch master cylinder before connecting it to the slave cylinder, it took a couple of tries but it did work in the end.

There are several things to check here. First check that the master cylinder to the clutch is working correctly. Then check that the slave cylinder is working. The Fords are sometimes difficult to bleed. The other item unfortunately is in the bell housing. There is a pivot that the release fork rolls over in the bell housing. Fords are famous for these breaking and causing the clutch to not disengage. The other problem could be the release fork is bent. These are not all fix it items. Just all the probable items that could be the problem. Hope this helps you. Usually you can just get the flywheel resurfaced for about $12. Was your flywheel junk? I hope someone didn't just decide to sell you a flywheel. Let me know what you find.

Manual transmissions do not slip ie. when the gears mesh, there is no slip unless they strip out and make an awful noise and will not pull henceforth.

You probably still have a slipping clutch plate against the flywheel. You need to adjust the clutch petal linkage shaft to allow the pressure plate to be release from the thrust bearing, ie shorten the shaft length.. If you and most likely you do just have the clutch release slave cylinder that releases the clutch when you apply the petal. You need to bleed the slave cylinder of any excess fluid or air that may have entered the line if you opened it at any point. You need to bleed it as you would a break cylinder and this should fix ya.
