I have a rattle when the car is at exactly 2000 RPMs while driving, not parked. It happens when accelerating or a continuous drive at 2000 RPMs.

Sounds like big end bearings, while parked, will it do it briefly if you rev it quickly?

You will need to have someone hold it at the rpm than rattles and get under car and find it, the exhaust is the first item to check

2007 Toyota Rav4: RPM fluctuates at around 2000 RPMs and engine seems to stutter or hesitate. Fairly consistent around 2000 RPMs. Does not happen when revved in park to 2000 or 2500 RPMs.

You need to check the engine for a vacuum leak, use a spray can of carb spray and lightly spray around engine (do not get on paint finish) when you hit a leak the engine idle will change

2000 v 8 What would cause the rpms to flutuate while driving and be high when in park?

My Jeep Grand Cheroke Limited 2000 did the same thing and the dealer replaced the O2 sensor and problem was solved. It about drove me crazy until it was figured out.

I have a 00 buick century. i cannot get it to go past 2800 rpms in any gear..driving or at idle have changed icm. sounds like rev limiter kicks on. this happens when your driving as well

Thinking there is a rev limiter on that car, designed to work only in park and neutral
Sounds like maybe it's staying on,
My first thought would be the neutral saftey switch on the ******.

When car is in park or when your stopped it rattles. But when it's put in neutral the rattle stops.

Check the tachometer while changing from from neutral to drive; you should see a change in the RPMs. Rattles have a resonant frequency and the minor change in engine speed may be causing it to reach resonance, making the rattle more apparent.

2000 pontiac grand am 3.4 motor auto trans 4 door.Car starts and drives okay motor seems to stumble slightly between 3000-4000 rpms. with car stopped in park try to rev motor will only go between 3200-4000...

Hi Tom your vehicle is equipped with a Rev limiter it will not allow you to rev the engine above 4000 with the trans in park; as for the first problem you may have one of two things, one of the spark plugs or spark plug wires is bad or you have a flat spot on the throttle positioning sensor in which case have be replaced. Good luck?

2004 jeep grand cherokee idling problem. Revs motor 200 to 500 rpms higher while driving.

I had the exact same problem on my 04 GC. I put some Techron Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner in from Wal-Mart and it seemed to fix the problems right away. Let me know.
