My 1988 chevy silverado blows the heater/ac fuse when engaging 4w

There is an electric actuator on the front axle that engages 4WD. This part commonly fails resulting in no 4WD. Unhook the electrical connector to this part and see if heater still blows fuses. If It does not blow the fuse, the problem is in the actuator. If it still blows the fuse then it could be in the wiring. Buy a repair manual and trace the wiring schematics.

The heater fan on my 98 chevy silverado stopped working... worked on high at first but made a high pitched noise and stopped all together

Run 12V directly to the motor and see if it will run, if it dosent than the motor is bad, if it does than the resister is bad, the resister makes the blower run and also regulates the speeds for the blower, but chanses are if it was making a high pitch squeel before it quit the motor went out.
