Have a 98- Eddie 4.0 SOHC, 4WD with a 100,000 mi. When driving it has a humming noise, it almost sounds like a bad tire, or a ... I start to hear the humming noise at 20 mph, it is very loud at 40 to 50 mph ... 94 XLT-95 FX4. humming gets louder as speed increases

The problem can be your tires. To verify rotate front tires to back.

get it checked out ASAP. Wheel bearings? brakes?

you could have a worn wheel bearing or differential bearings

Since this is a 2006 Chevrolet, it is probably your brakes making this sound.
You will also want to check your splash shields underneath the vehicle to make sure they are not loose and rubbing.
Where would you say the growling sound is coming from? Is it coming from the Engine compartment, wheel well, etc?

My daughters 2006 HHR LT was making a grinding / Bearing noise .I took it to a local mechanic to let him test drive it. He didnt even drive it 100 feet and imediately said "You have a wheel bearing out" He changed out the assembly for around $200 and it is good as new. Hope that helps

I had that on an HHR, the tire tread was coming loose.

tire shape ,wheel balance.any leakage at wheels.

Could be either a loose belt or you are low on power steering fluid,or the power steering pump could just be worn out.

It sounds like a wheel bearing. Depending on the miles it is possible it could be under warranty.
