There is a humming noise when driving HHR 2006. It sounds like a muffeler problem but not loud enough. Can only hear the noise when driving. No noise when car is not moving. Sounds like it may be in the motor - not sure. Vehicle runs great except the humming noise. Only have 38,000 miles.

I have a 2006 HHR 2LT and it is making a loud growling sound as I drive.

Since this is a 2006 Chevrolet, it is probably your brakes making this sound.
You will also want to check your splash shields underneath the vehicle to make sure they are not loose and rubbing.
Where would you say the growling sound is coming from? Is it coming from the Engine compartment, wheel well, etc?

2006 hhr road noise sounds like wheel bearing but bearing seems tight.

My daughters 2006 HHR LT was making a grinding / Bearing noise .I took it to a local mechanic to let him test drive it. He didnt even drive it 100 feet and imediately said "You have a wheel bearing out" He changed out the assembly for around $200 and it is good as new. Hope that helps

Faint to loud humming noise while driving and turning...

Could be either a loose belt or you are low on power steering fluid,or the power steering pump could just be worn out.
