Only code showing is P1451. I have replaced everything from the canister vent solenoid to the egr valve. This is the only code coming up but I do not understand why it causes the vehicle to stall around 12mph when its shifting
Following are typical causes. Engine stall from a P1451 would be atypical so not sure why. Follow suggestion and test fuel rail pressure. It could be fuel pump (tank vapor pressure sensor) is failing and that could cause a false p1451.
P1451 Ford EVAP Control System Canister Vent Solenoid Circuit Malfunction
Possible causes
– Loose or missing gas cap
– Faulty gas cap
– Canister Vent Solenoid harness is open or shorted
– Canister Vent Solenoid electrical circuit poor connection
– Faulty Canister Vent Solenoid
Symptoms
– Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
P1451 Ford Mercury Description
The Engine Control Module (ECM) detected the canister vent solenoid signal moved outside the calibrated parameters at a specific duty cycle.
Check fuel pressure...could be a weak fuel pump
Need to have it check for trouble codes...most auto parts will do it for free

You should be showing the check engine light--take the car to Autozone or other such business and get a free computer scan (they will be happy to sell you any needed parts). The scan should pinpoint any fuel or ignition problems. Good luck!

Go to an Autozone or Oreillys for a free scan. Then get your repair parts. There can be many things including a "Limp Home" mode which it sounds like it is in. Check your Antifreeze level, watch your Temperature gauge as Limp mode can mean there is a heat problem in some system and the engine is designed to keep the RPM's down. Actually having the car limit its speed is an indication of the Limp and eliminates some other problems.
If you are far away from a parts store you might be able to get it scanned free someplace else. The scan does not fix it, but can diagnose it. You can contact us about the Codes and we can give you repair information and most good Autoparts places can tell you repair info too!

Replace first, the fuel filter if this has not already been done. You may have a plugged filter, and these are very inexpensive. If this does not resolve the issue, locate the MAS (mass airflow sensor) located between the throttle body and the air filter housing. Start the car and let it idle normally; with a screwdriver handle or other such small tool, tap the mass airflow sensor (small black unit; will have a wiring harness hooked to the side of it); if the car dies, stalls, hesitates; first purchase MAS cleaner at the local auto parts dealer - specifically ask for Mass Airlflow Sensor Cleaner. It will should cost between 7-12 bucks - but you wont need the whole can - however, when using it: (if the car does not die, stall or hesitate and the idle stays the same, than the sensor is not bad) If it does however:
1. Remove the MAS (disconnect wiring harness) you may need to pull the top end of the air filter housing off.
2. Spray inside the sensor generously from both ends ensuring it's entirety is sprayed. Let stand for 15 minutes to airdry.
3. Re-install the sensor and start car. If there is still no improvement and the car hesistates, 1. Ensure the air filter as well is in good repair, and that there is nothing causing any air flow restriction between the airfilter and the throttle body.
4. If the airfilter is good, and there are no restrictions to air flow, consider replacing the MAS, however if you can get the car to the auto parts dealer, or to a technician (who may charge; auto parts dealers usually don't) have them run a diagnostics test on the car.
5. At this point, if cleaning the sensor has made no improvement, and the car stays idling, does not hesitate when tapping the sensor, the air filter is good, the fuel filter is good - then the next step is to replace the fuel pump.
