This could be a cracked/broken shifter tube is the shifter lever very loose and wiggling around then this is your problem, go to the bottom of the steering column and the shifter tube is connected to the cable you must grab the tube with pliers and turn it while someone or yourself turns the key to remove it the tube breaks from not stepping on the brake long enough and trying to force it out of park into drive before it releases and now there's a tab for the shift interlock solenoid and also the ignition switch rod that are not in the proper position to let you remove the key the rod from the cylinder is still in the applied position to start the truck because of the broken tube

SOURCE: ignition

Sounds like the battery is dead, you have just enough power to have the lights come on, but no cranking of the starter. Try putting the battery on a trickle charger, or hook up jumper cables to another car which is running. Let it run with the jumper cables connected for two mintues before you try and start your car.

SOURCE: Starting

To find out if the key is bad go to local lock smith and ask for a code key from the vin number they will tell you you need a chip that is correct but the key will open the door and turn on the ignition. if the new key works then your key is bad and the dealer can make you one for about 100.00 dollars if it still dont turn then the key cylinder is bad and it will need to be replaced good luck

It can be faulty ignition lock cylinder.I suggest to wiggle the steering wheel a bit and see if the key gets released out.If that is not helping then first turn steering wheel to right and try removing the key,or next turn steering wheel to left and see if you can remove the key.
----------
Spray wd-40 in the ignition key hole and let it remain there for few minutes, after that once again try to remove the key and see if that helps.
---------
But if that is not helping then ignition lock cylinder has to be removed out and key has to be manually removed.
