Power steering stops when I turn on the air conditioning

Everything works just fine until I turn on the air conditioning. Then the power steering stops working! Turn off the air conditioning, and everything returns to normal. Do you think my compressor is going bad and locking up my belt driven stuff?

It may be the compressor but as it takes a lot of power to turn the compressor then it may be worn belt's. Check if the belt's are shiney (polished) because although they may look good they may polished making them slip. Rub the polished sides with sand paper and try turning on the compressor again if this works replace the belt's because the sand paper work won't last long but long enough to check. The reason I dont think its the compressor is,if it was faulty then most likely it would make the belt slip all the time not just when its turned on. Hope this help's cheer's

YES. or the belt may be slipping. does the a/c work? if the belt is tight and the a/c does not work, then the a/c compressor is trying to sieze and will need replacement. if you dont need the a/c disconnect the wires to it.

How to bleed power steering pump 2004honda accord

1. Do NOT start the engine until the system is fully bled, doing so may cause damage to the power steering components. Pump internals are metal to metal so any air in the system can cause metal to metal contact and resulting damage.
2. Raise the front wheels off the ground
3. Turn the steering wheel fully to the RIGHT
4. Fill the reservoir to the "full cold" level & leave the cap off. Use only XADO CHF or Honda PSF-S fluid. Do NOT use automatic transmission fluid as transmission fluid does not contain the same friction inhibitors/additives and tends to breakdown and overheat. The use of transmission fluid will VOID the warranty
5. With an assistant checking the fluid level, turn the steering wheel slowly and smoothly lock to lock until the level drops in the reservoir. If the fluid level does not drop no fluid has moved through the system, this indicates an air bubble in the reservoir or pump. Until this bubble passes no fluid will circulate through the system. ? On systems with coolers you may need to cycle in excess of 40 times ? Do NOT turn the steering wheel fast as this will cause the fluid to overflow the reservoir, trapped air may cause the fluid to overflow. Thoroughly clean any spilled fluid so you can check later for any leaks
6. Check the fluid constantly to ensure proper level and that no bubbles exist. ? If you see any signs of bubbles recheck all hose connections then repeat the steps above. ? The fluid level should be steady
7. Disable the engine from starting ? Crank the engine several revolutions, if the fluid level drops there is compressed air trapped in the system, repeat the above steps until the fluid level remains stable. ? If the fluid foams while cranking wait at least 10 minutes or more until dispersed air has time to accumulate and purge through the reservoir.
8. Continue to repeat the steps above until the fluid level remains constant and no air bubbles are visible.
9. Now start the engine and check that the fluid remains at level and stable
10. Reinstall the reservoir cap
11. Return wheels to centre and lower wheels to the ground
12. Run the engine for two minutes and turn steering wheel in both directions
13. Do NOT hold the steering wheel against the stops
14. Verify the following conditions ? The steering is smooth ? Noiseless operation ? Proper fluid level ? No leaks ? Proper fluid condition ? No bubbles, foaming or fluid discolouration
15. If all of the above conditions are satisfied the bleeding procedure is complete
16. If any problem exists then turn off the engine and see special conditions below Special Conditions If you experience any of the conditions listed below then there is still air in the system. ? Foam or bubbles in the fluid ? Power steering fluid should not rise in the reservoir when the engine is turned off, if this occurs there is air trapped in the system ? Be aware of any periodic bubbles that could indicate a loose connection, leaky o-ring or a bad flare seat in either the pressure or return hose ? Discoloured fluid (milky, opaque or light tan colour) If you have any questions regarding this procedure please contact us before you install the replacement power steering pump that you have purchased from us, we will be happy to help you.

I just recently replaced the power steering pump in my car after that we bleed the line and everything seemed fine the next day power steering fluid was spewing out the cap and I can't figure out why now...

there is still air in the system-jack the front of the car off the ground turn the key just until steering unlocks and turn the steering wheel completly side to side at least a dozen times-watch the fluid level it most not run out of the reservoir or it will suck more air into system and continue to foam-cheers Denny

Bleed power steering on 2008 dodge avenger

to bleed power steering, with front wheels off ground slightly with front wheels pointing straight ahead.engine off. remove power steering filler cap.add power steering until fluid level stop dropping, wait couple minutes and wait, add fluid until level stay at full cold mark on power steering cap dip stick. dont over fill.when fluid level stop dropping, start vechicle, let it idle few minutes. see if fluid level drop if so add more fluid full cold mark.then turn steering all the way to left and right with out hitting a stop.turn steering wheel several times, then turn front wheels pointing forward check power steering fluid level.if power steering fluid level stop dropping air should be out of system, if steering turning wheel dont turn smoothly and power steering fluid look light tan color air getting in the system.check all power steering lines to rack and power steering pump for leaks.be sure you replaced all the power steering lines with new o rings if not you will get a leak.if you find a leak, you need to fix the leak and bleed system again.dont drive vechicle if your steering dont feel right, have vechicle towed to a garage.

99 ford 3.0l power steering pump blow fluid out hole in cap when shut off

you may have to much power steering fluid in your system. or you may have air in the system. when

ever you do any kind of work to your power steering. you need to bleed the system. procedure-

block your rear tires. raise the front of your car off the ground with a jack, use jack stands. start engine

and turn steering left and right. stop engine check fluid level apply as needed and repeat procedure

I would do it about three times. then turn ignition off stop engine. remove jack stands lower car. and

and test if the air is out of the system the car will go back to normall. good luck!

How do i bleed my power steering rack on subaru legacy rs turbo

if its been a week, there should no tbe any air. if its heavy, the rack could be bad, or weak pump????? any noises? air will usually cause a whiney noise, and there will be air whipped, foamy fluid in the pump. A pump pressure regulator could be stuck open, not allowing full pressure? I would have a shop diagnose it, tell them the history and see if they can find a cause.
