How did you come to that conclusion

  • Charley S Sep 28, 2013

It has internal relay issue. This part fails over time, from all of the vibration and heat.

Why does my abs makes a noise when engine is off

Your ebcm internal relay is likely failed, possibly has a c0265 code in ebcm. Pull the abs maxi-fuse underhood fuseblock, abs and red brake light will come on, but noise should stop. There are several module rebuilders online (module masters comes to mind)

Hi Candice, .How does it run ? P0305 is a misfire code for cylinder #5, P0106 The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor responds to pressure changes in the intake manifold. The pressure changes occur based on the engine load. The MAP sensor has the following circuits:
5-volt reference circuit
• Low reference circuit
• MAP sensor signal circuit

What is the C0265 error code

The ABS EBCM anti-lock brake module is failing causing problems with the ABS pump running constantly, also will drain your battery.
  1. Remove the ABS fuse to prevent ABS motor burn out.
  2. You can still drive your vehicle with the module removed.
  3. We recommend covering the exposed surface of the hydraulic control unit with aluminum foil to keep out water and dirt.
Common Failures:
  • ABS Pump Always Running
  • Codes: C0265, C0267, C0268
  • Pump Motor Circuit trouble code
  • Power Relay trouble code
  • Valve Relay Trouble code
  • Dump Valves (solenoids) trouble codes
  • No Communication
  • Intermediate power loss

Where is the abs relay located

The abs relay is internal to the EBCM if you are referring to the code c0265 sets in the module and causes the ABS and RED brake light.

Where are the ground wires for the ecbm gmc safari 2005

Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) C0265 is a POWER circuit code for the EBCM/Pump Motor Relay, not a ground code. This DTC sets when the voltage (B+) is too low at the EBCM when the solenoids and pump motor are commanded OFF. The voltage is supposed to be pulled low when the circuit is commanded ON. A ground problem with the EBCM is most likely to cause a failure of the EBCM to communicate with a scan tool. However, it doesn't hurt anything to check the ground. The main ground for the EBCM (G106) is located on the left rear of the engine near the knock sensor.

I have a 2001 chevrolet silverado with the following codes C0265,CO241 C0245 C0246 CO251. ABS & BRAKE LIGHT COME ON AND OFF Thanks Joey

looks like you need an ebcm. You can check the ground under the drivers side door attached to the frame, make sure it is clean and tight.

DTC C0241-C0254 or C041-C054
Circuit DescriptionThe ABS relay supplies battery voltage to 6 valve solenoids. The electronic brake control module (EBCM) microprocessor applies the grounds needed to activate each solenoid. The low side of each solenoid coil has a feedback circuit to the EBCM microprocessor. When a solenoid is commanded OFF, the feedback voltage is high. When a solenoid is commanded ON, the feedback voltage is low.
Conditions for Running the DTC • The ignition is ON. • The vehicle speed is greater than 6 km/h (4 mph). Conditions for Setting the DTCThe EBCM detects an internal malfunction.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets C0241, C0242, C0245, C0246, C0251, C0252, C0253, C0254If equipped, the following actions occur:
• The EBCM disables the DRP/ABS. • The ABS indicator turns ON. • The red brake warning indicator turns ON. C0243, C0244, C0247, C0248If equipped, the following actions occur:
• The EBCM disables the ABS. • The ABS indicator turns ON. Conditions for Clearing the DTCThe conditions for setting the DTC are no longer present and you use the scan tool Clear DTCs function.
Diagnostic AidsAn intermittent open/shorted solenoid DTC can be set by several different internal EBCM problems. Replace the EBCM if an open/shorted solenoid DTC continues to set intermittently.

Hello,
There is a ground wire connected to the engine block. Look for it on the back passenger side of the engine towards the top. Remove it and clean the connection and the wire connector and replace. Sometimes they get real bad and throw the ABS light on. Sometimes a brake light out can throw the ABS light on.

  • You said you rebuilt the ABS module, do you have a short in it you are missing? The bulletin for this originally suggested to replace the module and was corrected because the ground itself was the major offender.
  • Try to reground the EBCM. The code 0265 says "loss of communication with the brake module" The EBCM Ground is located on the frame beneath the driver's side door. If multiple grounds are found in this location, the EBCM ground can be identified as the heavy (12-gauge) wire. Clean the area, front and back, using a Whiz Wheel.

  • Install the ground, then the washer and then the bolt to the frame. Important: It is important to use the bolts, washers and nuts specified in this bulletin. These parts have been identified due to their conductive finish.
  • Install a washer and nut to the back side of the frame.
  • Tighten the nut to 9 N·m (79 lb in).
  • Cover the front and back side of the repair area using Rubberized Undercoating. An additional check can be made to ensure a good connection for the Battery Cable to Frame ground.

Regards, Tony

Abs light is on

When the ABS (Anti Lock Brake System) light is on it means the systems control module has detected a failure and the ABS is disabled, this means you just have regular non ABS brakes. To find out what the fault is requires the ABS control module be scanned with a special tool to see what fault codes show up.

Check on possible recalls such as this one listed on Repair Pal found on Google: I believe you may have a defective computer module that is going to be hard to find as it breaks down when it feels like not when you are expecting it to do so. This is the recall example I found and listed below, even though it states 2005/06 I still would be concerned...the systems have hardly made any changes since then. Brakes: SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:ANTILOCK:ABS WARNING LIGHT Service Bulletin Number: 40525002 NHTSA Number: 10022470 Model Years Affected: 2005, 2006 Date of Bulletin: 08/2007 Bulletin Summary: ABS LIGHT ON, DTC'S C0265, C0201, U1041 SET AND/OR LOSS OF COMMUNICATION WITH BRAKE MODULE.
