I Hard Shifting, No Speedo, Anti lock light on

Have a 1999 Chevy 2500 4x4. After driving about 10 miles the Antilock Brake light comes on, The speedometer stops working and the transmission shifts extremly hard. If you let it sit 20 minutes everything is ok for another 10 miles.

My 2002 chevy impala's service traction light comes on after shifting from reverse to drive. it aslo seems to activate the anti lock brake mode at that time. it resets itself and does fine after
Check your brake sensors for debris inside the brake drum or caliper. This all depends on how your Model counts the turns on each wheel.

There are some Models which have a sensor in the axle and others which rely on the 4 individual wheel sensors.

When brake debris or rust "blinds" the sensors you get the problem you have unless it is a clearance problem with sloop in the differential.

best have vechicle pressure bleed since you have anti lock brake system.if you see brake light flashing you have brake failure either mastercylinder is faulty or still have air in brake system.let a garage fix brake system need tech 1 scanner to reset anti lock brake control module.

Good question, on the antilock system is a bleader too and bleade it the same way you bleade the caliper. After all is done adjust the rear brakes, they should have a drag to them.

Anti lock brake light is on and a constant chiming like when a door is open
There is a malfunction in the braking anti-skid system and the chiming is telling you that it is not there in a hard stop. Your brakes default to normal braking but may lock up in a panic stop. It would behoove you to take it in and have your brakes and the antilock system chked. Safe driving. -Ned-

Anti- lock light
You have a bad abs sensor the reason it is going on when you move is the computer is trying to read the miles per hour on the wheels one of your sensors is not reading properly. Your regular brakes will work but your abs will not when the light is on. Have autozone check for codes they do this for free:)

Anti lock brakes
make sure the slides on the calipers (they acuate the pads) are cleaned and the slides are lubed with a high temp brake caliper grease . the other possibility is a faulty master/brake booster
