Brake lights don't work

I have a europeon ford escort ghia and the brake lights are not working. I checked and changed the fuse even though it was good, changed the bulbs and still no lights. I need a diagram to see if there is something between the bulbs and the fuse. Do you know where I can find one or have any other posssible solutions?

Check the Pedal switch near the brake pedal.

Emergency Flashers work?
How about FRONT ? BACK turn signals.
1. It is probably the "BRAKE SWITCH" mounted on the brake pedal (under steering wheel post).
2. Probably need to replace the brake light switch (I don't advise "adjusting" the switch, better to replace)
3. Brake light switch at any auto supply (AutoZone, etc.) for about $10.00

In my rear tailights, the breaklight component is not functioning. i replaced them with brand new lights. the center breaklight located in the back window is still working. Cant figure out why they wont...

Have had this problem many time's here at my shop, if center brake light come's on which you said it does, fuse and relay are good, the problem is your turn signal switch cause the brake light circuit goes through the switch, the switch is bad even though the turn signal's still work's, good luck, hope this was evrey helpful.

Escort ghia st 1994 problem no brake lights working but bulbs and fuses ok

There could be two reasons for this problem of yours.
1. The connections have gone off from the brake pedal switch.
2. The brake pedal switch itself if out.
Open the hood and locate the switch. At the out of the switch connect a wire from the positive of the battery. The brake lights should come on. If the do then the connection is fine and the switch is faulty.
If the lights dont come on then the switch MAY be OK and the wiring faulty (unlikely as from here the wiring has to go to two sides and both could not have gone off simultaneously).
So I feel it is the switch that is at fault and should be changed if confirmed so.
To check the switch connect the same wire to the in of the switch and press the brake pedal. if the lights come on then the switch is OK else not.

1998 ford escort wagon brake lights out. bulbs and fuses changed.

Sounds like your brake light switch has gone bad. It is located on your brake pedal and is easy to change and relatively inexpensive. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!
