My ABS and traction control warning lights come on intermittantly. what can I check?

abs problems will effect ves-- tcs --cruise control -braking system check and test fuses relays wiring sensor and hubs

Today, most new vehicles come with either an ABS or a traction control system. A problem in the ABS or traction control system is usually indicated by a warning light. When the ABS warning light is on, it means that the ABS has been shut down because of a mechanical or electrical failure.

First you need to have EBCM - electronic brake control module check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's . If the light is on there is a code stored . I think most part stores can do this and for free . After you find out what code is stored , looking up that code in service repair information for diagnostic trouble shooting chart would be next step . There are a few codes too.

Find the code do the diagnostic's , fix the problem , wiring issue's , a sensor , bad module ,what ever it is . The light will go out then . Here is a sample of code discription .

Traction control system works with the ABS sensors to monitor to monitor traction slippage.

PRE-DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTIONBefore diagnosing ABS/TCS, perform a comprehensive visual inspection of system as follows.Check ABS/TCS wiring harness connectors for looseness. Check harness routing; pay particular attention to wheel speed sensor wiring harness routing. Check fuses No. 1D, 5B and 6B in instrument panel fuse block. Check fuses No. 1 and 2 in underhood fuse block. Check brake fluid level in master cylinder reservoir. Check brake fluid level in Pressure Modulator Valve (PMV) assembly reservoir. If they all come on at the same time, chances are its a problem the engine computer has found. The wrench is a warning light for the engine and transmission, the ABS and traction control involve both the drivetrain as well as the brakes. So if a problem pops up in one system the computer knocks out the others too.
Have the main computer checked for trouble codes and go from there.

This could be and indicator that an abs sensor has gone bad or intermittently losing its signal. This may require replacement of a bearing hub asembly in which the abs sensor is incorporated into.The traction control uses the abs to control slipping when traction is limited. If the abs becomes disabled the traction control does as well.

my 2000 yukon has the traction control light on and the abs light on any anwsers?
