I had a flat battery in my Kia Rio. Tried a spare battery but it didn't sound right. I got a new battery, starts fine but I have no power windows, aircon or radio. Checked Fuses, looked OK.

SOURCE: 2004 KIA RIO-ENGINE WILL NOT CRANK

I would guess starter fuse first, then starter. When you turn key, if you don't hear a click, you should focus your attention on the fuse first and then the starter. If you hear a click, then most likely (80%) its the starter solenoid. try to start the car in neutral to rule out the neutral safety switch...good luck

SOURCE: no electrical power after replacing battery

I've had similar problems with my cars, and everytime it was a bad ground or power wire, or corrosion on the terminals. Get a wire brush and clean both battery connecters..even a little corrosion can cause a no power situation. If you have a test light, connect the ground of the test light to the negative cable of the battery and touch light to the positive cable...if the test light doesn't light up, then you have a break or lose connection in your ground wire. Trace the battery ground to the engine block and clean that also...the smallest thing can interupt power...hope this helps..

I have 2009 Kia Rio, It seems to start fine but a number of electrical items don't work, what could it be?

For strangeness like that you need an auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer. Sounds like communication issues between modules and sensors. The scan computer can diagnose and fix, or point where the fix is needed.

Hi i had sa me issue jump started my kia rio radio display was blank. To fix open your fusebox inside the car Pull out both audio fuses your fuse puller should be in the fuse box under the hood. Yes you have two fuse boxes. One inside you car and one under the hood with your engine. wait few minutes say five... Put the fuse back in. Btw its not neccesary to pull the fuse all the way out. Your radio should show cde error... Now you will need to put in your four digit pin...gluck thanks to the guy on the internet who said pull out the memory fuse... Not that i understood till now.

My 2004 Kia Rio stopped running on me today. I tried to restart it and it just clicked. I checked all fluids, they are fine, oil was fine, no water in it. My alternator pulley is very shiny, the water pump...

I had a similar problem. Check your Fuse's or where your fuel pump it may not be getting fuel. Or like mine did the computer or ecu went dead. Take it to a dealer to see if they can figure it out if not, and later on i seriously suggest to buy a new car, Kia Rio's ****, it will break down again.

Kia rio 02 died while driving down highway

The battery is only use to start the car, once the car is moving the alternator takes over and charges the battery. I sounds like the alternator is bad. You take the alternator to Napa, Auto Zone or Advance auto part and have them check it for you.

Kia Rio died in traffic. Will not start.

Hello Kia Owner,
Regarding the shut down, when was the last time you changed the timing belt?? Did you know that the twin cam 1.5 lirte motor needs a new belt every 50,000 miles or 80,000 kms.
If the belt has failed it may still be in tact but with the cogs ripped off.
Your valves have collided with at least one piston but it is good you were only idling at the time.
The motor may be worth fixing. I just fixed mine myself. I had to lift the engine after removing the axles. I removed the old timing belt and removed and rebuilt the cylinder head(big job). Two exhaust valves were boken right off and lying inside one cylinder.
Most likely your timing belt failed as well.

2004 Kia Rio Won't Start Clicking Noise Battery is GOOD

My 2004 Kia Rio just started losing compression and died on me. I tried starting it and it only clicks. I checked the battery cables and they are not corroded and very tight. Could it be the battery or the alternator not charging the battery? there is no water in the oil and it's not the water pump.
