SOURCE: changing spark plugs 2003 Impala 3.4 eng. i.e. removing and reinstalling upper intake manifold

I have a 2003 chevy Impala and it's not so difficult. Try using a small ratchet that fits in the palm of your hand, I can't remember what it is called. To install the plugs use an extension and put a couple of the card board pieces from one of the spark plug boxes in between the new spark plug and the spark plug puller socket, this will hold the new plug in place while you work with the extension. When screwing in the plug you will have to go by feel so move the extension back and forth like a light jiggle while turning to avoid cross threading the plug. After the plug is tightened attach the ratchet and slightly torque into place.

SOURCE: my scan tool says p1000 when i look up the codes

Hello, my name is Ben. Here is the short answer: P1000 OBD-II Monitor Testing Incomplete
P1000 will be set anytime there is any interruption of power to the PCM. This action could be but is not limited to, changing the battery, clearing history codes, or reprogramming the PCM. If there are no other codes stored the P1000 will clear itself after several "driving cycles". I hope this helps you, Ben.

SOURCE: 2003 Ford Windstar 3.8 143k rough idle stalls

I have a 2003 ford windstar.Engine started to run rough when it
used to rained.I would accelarate it until roughness would go away sort of.It lack a little power but if I take it a mechanic they would charged too much money.Anyway, the problem was a spark plug wire in front of the engine, wires that are grouped together with that little pin. One of them was rubbing agains the valve cover and it got worned out current would leak out right there.I discovery it one time that it rainned really hard I had to go out and the wagon started to miss really bad and it wouldn't move. Finally, I got home the next day I looked under the hood to see what I can see and there it was a spark plug wire that one can tell if you know a little bit about cars that current was leaking throw it. I replaced wire problem solved. But now after all of that snow we had the check engine light came on and I am not sure what could be.For I remmerber running over a mountain of sort of hard snow.So it probably broke oxigine sensor wire.

Code p0171, p0174 replaced with uusedmaf. Cleared .ck eng lite for. 200plus miles may be try a new one and see

You do know those two trouble codes usually mean you have low fuel pressure or an intake air leak, right ?
Both codes mean the engine computer can not make the injectors rich enough to cause the O2 sensors to switch from lean to rich.

I have a 2003 745Li w/ 78k miles ... bought it 6mos ago w/ 75k miles .. i went to BMW dealership for oil change .. and 2weeks later .. ck engine light came on and code in-dash says emission error.. dealler...

Yes, well I would ask both service shops for your BMW, what the codes were so you could judge for yourself which direction to go, with the gasket and catalytic converter first, or the water pump first.

Emissions has more to do with gaskets and catalytic converter than the water pump, unless you were having an overheat condition.

I think you should go with the first shop first, even though it might be expensive to do so.

My 1998 V-6 Ford explorer 4 door failed last month due to computer not ready/ eng light on. Well the engine lite went off today so i brought it in for reinspection. Now new codes are showing?...

171 and 174 are engine running lean. Repair cost will depend on cause. Check for vacuum leaks. Start by checking for vacuum lines coming off the engine intake manifold. Make sure they are all attached at both ends and are not cracked, etc. These engines have a lot of intake manifold gasket issues. Spray carb cleaner or starter fluid at the gaskets with the engine running. If the engine revs at all, you have leaky gaskets. This is a bigger job to fix--a few hours labor.

153 and 1151 is an O2 sensor. About $150 bucks to fix that.

If you have more questions, please let me know.

Coolant in # 1 cylnder\clean intake port of intake manifold

Check the lower intake gasket again the new gaskets that are being use made out of plastic with rubber port seals sometimes don't seal right I still used gasket sealer with the new plastic gasket even if it has rubber seals. MY 4.2 v6 had that problem but I went ahead and replaced the head gaskets also just to cover all the bases. And my F-150 has 210,000 miles on it. Make sure you tight the bolts I know it probably calls for something like 8 ft lbs which to me is not tight enough. Double it.
