flashing usually indicates either transmission overheating or slipping transmission, better budget a new one soon. my suggestion is to never buy auto, rock a 5spd and enjoy no power loss, 1/8 the maintenance. and infinitely longer life overall... all automatics fail, manuals rarely fail if ever. in fact id be willing to wager that over 80% of manuel vehicles get junked with good transmissions

I have a 2000 Mazda 121 metro with hold light flashing. It only comes on the first time I drive car each day, once I turn car off and start again after driving about 100 metres it goes away.
