  1. Remove the mirror cover screw and lift the cover and pivot the mirror towards the window.
  2. Remove the mirror to door bolts and remove the mirror and seal from the door.
  3. To install, position the mirror and seal to the door and install the retaining bolts.
  4. Pivot the mirror away from the window, and lower the mirror cover.
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal.

SOURCE: need to replace brake line from rear axle forward

Chanses are it broke behind the gas tank wear it runs along the frame rail. You don't need a diagram to fix that, just unhook it at both ends and break it off or cut it off buy the tank and take the pieces with you to a auto parts store and they will match it up with new line, just take a tape measure and measure from the rear axel to the front block or perportioning valve, and don't worry about the piece behind the tank, just run the new line alongside the old one behind the tank unless you want to pull the tank out.

.brakes line locateions 1996 gmc 1500

Have to fabricate new brake tubing & just replace the rusted
lines as you see them.

If you get under there & look, you will have your answer

A guess from my experience, would say you start at the proportioning valve & go past the door & leak, to the rear
somewhere at a junction block on the axle housing or to an
abs hcu unit, if one of them there along the way

Sometimes you need to make two lines with a union under the door,
as that is the longest run under a truck & to do one piece may not be
possible & get it in place, with all the bends & things you have to pass

On a 1996, I would suggest you bleed all four corners first
Then remove the master cylinder & clean out the moisture
Then replace All rubber flex hoses
Then replace the entire brake system lines
Once one rusts out, their all months apart & unsafe to use
piece mealing it one section at a time

I have a 1996 GMC c2500. It had both rear wheel cyl. leaking and I replaced them. When I tried to bleed them I have no fluid to the rear. I checked at the master cyl and I do have flow there, but there is...

I take it you are trying to bleed the rear brakes and are not getting any fluid. When you are not getting any fluid to the rear only. It can only be two things. The per portioning valve. This is what supplies the brakes on the rear with only 10% breaking.

My sons truck when he puts his brakes on his 1993 gmc 1500 truck the brakes pull real bad to the right have already changed rotars, pads ,master cylinder, got air out of line. don't know what to do next.

Check right side tires for proper air pressure, check front end for looseness in any of ball joints, tie rod ends etc. Also check left brake to see if working properly.

Replaced master cylinder shoes pads wheel cylinder & booster & the brakes still go to the floor. in a 88 gmc 1/2 ton 4 whl drive sierra.

The first thing to check is the brake lines, this lines rot and leak fluid, most times its the line going to rear wheels that runs along side of fuel tank along the frame,

Leaking brake line(drivers side)

The hose is only maybe 15- 20 bucks depending on if its a 2wd or 4wd. I don't know what a brake shop will charge. They will just have to bleed all brakes and replace 1 line. a 4 wheel brake bleed is usually around 40 - 50 bucks, plus the labor to change the hose. This happens when stupid retarded brake guys change the pads and let your calipers hang by the hose. Thats the most common reason. However if one side is cracking bad and leaking, then it would be best to replace both sides and check the rear distribution block hose.

97 GMC Sierra P/U Front left disc brake locks

The flex hose to that caliper has deteriorated and collapsed. You need to change both front flex hoes immediately! Once the hoses get to this stage they can blow under heavy braking and leave you with no brakes.
