SOURCE: 1997 ford explorer rolls/creeps forward while in park
linkage is off, not starting in park, neutral safety switch maybe bad
SOURCE: Shifting from Park does not work unless I use the "Shift release"
arent you supposed to push tthe button to release it anyway?
SOURCE: 2000 jetta auto trans won't shift out of park after starting
that is a TSB you may have a bad valve body, olso this condition may turn malfunction ligth on, or if you remove the air intake pipe
on trans there is a conector that go to trans valve body some time come lose pluged back an reset PCM if don't fixed will be the trans valve body
SOURCE: 1999 Chevy Silverado wont start.
common problem the gear shift sensor on side of trans is bad.easy repair couple of bolts and a plug .most dealers stock it ask for a nutral saftey switch.bout 80 bucks ??
CAUTION
Since you must work under the vehicle to adjust most shift linkages make sure you properly raise and support the vehicle before working under it. Also, wear safety glasses or goggles while working under the vehicle.
A voltmeter can be used to check the switch for voltage when the ignition key is turned to the START position with the shift lever in PARK or NEUTRAL. If there is no voltage, the switch should be adjusted or replaced.
