Dodge truck issues with idle

Have 1999 dodge 1500 Running rough will not stay running. Replaced ignition coil, plugs. Codes read to replace #’s 1 & 8 fuel injectors so I replaced. Run till it warmed up then started running rough idle and dies. Replaced fuel pump 8 months ago. What should I check or do to solve this problem?

You read the codes so what were they exactly? That is only half of the issue. You can have codes that are showing up because something else failed. There is no code that says "replace injector"

Is this a 5.7? They are notorious for intake manifold gasket leaks. When mine did it, the diagnostics blamed it on an ignition misfire also! Replaced the gaskets and it runs smooth!

sounds like your egr valve is gummed up or bad. this is located behind the throttle body and has a single vaccum tube connected to it. if the diafram is still good you can remove it and clean it with WD 40 until the plunger works smooth

Have you cleaned the throttle body? It gets really gunked up with time. Also, when my daughter's car had those symptoms, it turned out to be the crankshaft position sensor. It was a cheap, easy fix.

I have a p2323 code and replaced the spark plugs. I pulled the battery cable and after a week the code came back. What could be causing this.

P2323 Dodge - Ignition Coil Secondary Number 8 Circuit Condition - Faulty spark plug or coil boot
- Faulty Ignition Coil 8
- Ignition Coil 8 harness is open or shorted
- Ignition Coil 8 circuit poor electrical connection
Possible symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Engine may be running rough

P2323 Dodge Description
The ignition system is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) on all engines. Each cylinder is equipped with 1 dual-output coil. Meaning one coil mounts directly over one of the dual spark plugs for 1 high-voltage output.
Battery voltage is supplied to all of the ignition coils positive terminals from the ASD relay. If the PCM does not see a signal from the crankshaft and camshaft sensors (indicating the ignition key is ON but the engine is not running), it will shut down the ASD circuit.
Base ignition timing is not adjustable. By controlling the coil ground circuits, the PCM is able to set the base timing and adjust the ignition timing advance. This is done to meet changing engine operating conditions.
The PCM adjusts ignition timing based on inputs it receives from:
- The engine coolant temperature sensor
- The crankshaft position sensor (engine speed)
- The camshaft position sensor (crankshaft position)
- The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor
- The throttle position sensor
- Transmission gear selection

Dodge ram 1500 5.9 idles rough and stales out

This truck has problems with the cover inside intake leaking vacuum and causing rough idle and oil usage , its hard to say what your problem is with out testing, have you had the check engine light scanned for codes? what year is this dodge?these also had intake leak problems. try starting the engine and let it idle and then with some carburator cleaner spray around intake gasket and see if idle changes if it does then you have a intake gasket leak, another problem may be a leaking injector, try some sea foam in the gas tank and run a half tank of gas and see if that helps, otherwise a fuel injection system cleaning would be the way to go but this is only if its an injector problem, if this truck is 1996 or newwer have the computer scanned at an auto parts store for any codes. if there are codes let me know what they are even list the code and #. good day

I have a 1999 ram 1500 5.2l starts up fine runs fine at idle but when you drive it has no power wont go past 30 mph. codes came up for misfire running rich did a tuneup on the truck still runs the same

Misfire could be any component in ignition system. Usually Coil On Plug or Coil Module.

A misfire will show as a rich condition, once sensed by the O2 Sensor.

No power could be Throttle Position Sensor or lack of Fuel Pressure,If NOT Ignition.

03 Dodge Stratus check engine light is on and car idles rough

I dont think you need a engine rebuild. Have him test the ignition system, basic tune up, also have him check the fuel pressure when cold and hot compare them.

1998 dodge ram pickup 318 eng. engine idle rough on warm-up engine idle rough after warm-up shutting off engine and starting back up engine also runs sluggish in over drive at a low idle. I have...

If the engine seems to run fine over 1450 RPM maybe there is a vacuum hose leaking or EGR valve is slightly stuck open. Any help from the OBD II trouble codes? Or is there simply no MIL and no stored information in the OBD II computer read at the local parts store through the connector by the drivers knee?

Check engine light

A multi misfire may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Faulty spark plug or wires, Faulty coil (pack), Faulty oxygen sensor(s), Faulty fuel injector(s), Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages, Faulty camshaft position sensor, Defective computer.

The engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wire, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

Random misfires that jump around from one cylinder to another (read: P030x codes) also will set a P0300 code. The underlying cause is often a lean fuel condition, which may be due to a vacuum leak in the intake manifold or unmetered air getting past the airflow sensor, or an EGR valve that is stuck open.

Good luck and hope this information helps, keep me posted, be glad to help you get the truck running 100% again. Not sure if your running a K&N air filter, and if you are there may be a flim of oil on the MAF sensor that is making you run lean. You may want to spray down the MAF sensor with a can of MAF cleaner.
