Question edited for a bit more clarity.

In the link, but it would be better to buy a service manual.

2006 Jetta has interior floor lights that stay on even after locking the car, and the alarm does not beep when locking the door. What can I do to get these lights to turn off so the battery does not die?

the "puddle lights" should go out about the same time as the interior lights, after removing the key from the ignition,if not try an alarm/immobiliser system reset as per the book.

Hi, just a random idea: are all the cables to the plugs okay? If there is no ignition, the problem could be there.
