06 VW won't turn on - it is locked up and have rocked the wheel and it still won't work

Make sure the steering wheel is straight, if it is off to one side when you parked, there is tension on lock. Try rocking or pulling the steering wheel while turning the key. It is possible that the tumblers in the lock are bad though

has the wheel bearing or break shoe perhaps seized

IGNITION KEY WILL NOT RELEASE

It can be faulty ignition lock cylinder. I suggest to wiggle the steering wheel a bit and see if the key gets released out. If that is not helping then first turn steering wheel to right and try removing the key, or next turn steering wheel to left and see if you can remove the key.

Spray wd-40 in the ignition key hole and let it remain there for few minutes, after that once again try to remove the key and see if that helps.

But if that is not helping then ignition lock cylinder has to be removed out and key has to be manually removed.

get a new switch

My 06 VW won't let me turn the car on. The key won't turn and the wheel is locked. I need help fast as this is my only transportation.

HI,
is the vehicle on a full steerring lock left or right?
Apply the parking brake, Trans in P / N.
Insert the ign key.
Place one hand on the rim of the steering wheel and "rock" the wheel as you attempt to turn the ign key. You will feel the pressure against the steering wheel, keep "rocking" it and it should unlock as you work the ign lock.

If its anything like my old VW car it may be the stearing lock thats preventing the car key from turning. Pull the stearing wheel one way as hard as you can then the other way then jiggle it while trying to get the key out of the ignition. Nothing to worry about, the lock in there just gets stuck sometimes.

Try having someone rock the car frontwards and backwards, while you rock the steering wheel back and forth and try to turn the key - it sounds like you're jammed up hard against the steering column lock.

Make sure it's in Park (if automatic). If so, or if it is a manual, turn the steering wheel (even if it's locked in) and the key will release.
