Neither
the crank shaft position sensor triggers the ignition control module that generates the spark either internally or through a coil/ pack
the cam position sensor ok, s that process to prove that the cam shaft is turning correctly

SOURCE: rear hub nut on a2003 hyundai elantra

Very wild guess. I replaced the bearings in my 2003, and was looking in my tool box. I came across a 1 1/4" socket that I purchased around the same time, but I realize that it should be the metric equivalent of this, so it probably did not fit perfectly. Metric conversion would be 31.75 mm.

unless you can discover what DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) has been recorded/set in the control module, it's anyone's guess.

SOURCE: 2003 Hyundai Elantra GLS. Check engine light, code PO133

Did you use a aftermarket O2 sensor or a genuine Hyundai one? If it's an aftermarket one it may be bad or not as good as the OEM one. See here for more details and other potential causes: P0133

SOURCE: need fil for error code P2626 Hyundai Elantra GLS

P2626 O2 Sensor Pumping Current Trim Circuit/Open (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

I'll sure this has to do with a faulty O2 sensor. This sensor is usually located around the header of your car, or down more on your exhaust.

Try disconnecting your battery for 30 mins, hook it back up, and start your car again. This will erase the error. See if it comes in again.

Hope this help (remember rated this post).

2003 Hyundai Elantra GLS 2.0. Would the main relay keep a car from running?

Question edited for clarity.

Possibly, some do cover things that affect starting, the 'fuel pump relay' for instance. You need to diagnose, not just replace as a guess. Check for codes. A prograde scan tool will diagnose all modules and relays.

I have a 1997 Hyundai elantra gls..it cranks but wont start sometimes, i usually have to accelarate (give it gas)for it to start and there was misfire on the spark plugs, what gives?

Fist off no amount of giving gas to a fuel injected system helps it start. What you are describing sounds like the crank shaft sensor is bad. That would cause misfire and then no start later.

Car is fireing an getting gas but want crank

if it cant crank there is no spark , there will never be fueling.
The starter is first. does it crank over the crank shaft fast.
yes, i must guess.
then next is spark, with no spark , EFI cuts fuel. (no fires)
so if it cranks the crank shaft fast (look) then check spark now.
on all cylinders not just 1.
then post. results for step 3.
