Put the key in the ignition and turn the key so that the [battery](/topics-battery-chrysler/) is on, but the [engine](/topics-engine-chrysler/) doesn't start. Quickly push and hold in the override button until you hear the alarm sound once, indicating the alarm is disabled.
Try unlocking the door manually with the keys. If problem still happens. Your door or hood switch may be defective. They will send a false signal to the alarm that indicates one is open.
This car is 15 years old. Personally, I have never heard of a vehicle that would do that. Try to find another vehicle that is newer. Nobody wants to get another vehicle, but it would be better than putting up with this problem.
The click noise is the sound of the starter SOLENOID clicking but not contacting to supply voltage to the starter motor.
Now a multimeter test will confirm if the solenoid is contacting and if so then the starter motor is faulty.
It can be due failure of the BRUSH in the motor or the commutator. If so remove the motor and confirm.
Also if the starter pinion is struck the solenoid will click and the motor may not turn.
He's no Guru. If the key had the door remote and alarm buttons you can expect to spend about $245 from a locksmith with the correct computer equipment to download the codes. Dealer is $285. There is a key the locksmith can make that has the digital coed to start the car but the alarm will sound until you put the key in and turn to on. Yes, there is a key for $5.00, it will open the door but won't start the car. My daughter jsut went through this and I shopped all over. monolopy on this one.
now sometimes this happens to let you know that one of the doors are open check your doors this is the only thing i can think of altho you have most likely checked it lol also lock the car with the key you don't want it to get stolen
