Think that’s a generic code but You need a scanner with Techstream software, like the MiniVCI, to get the real Toyota codes. Your scanner is not compatible with the hybrid ECU.
Means your not using your scan tool correctly hit --read owners manual for your scanner and rescan when the $7e8 pops up you should be either tapping enter --scroll or arrow up or down for the code
7E8 and 7E9 these are not codes what they are are system 7E8 is for the engine powertrain and 7E9 is for the transmission powertrain.
you need a odb2 or such

SOURCE: I was trying to find what DTC code P1151 means for
Hello stj6878: My name is Roger and I can tell you what the code is for.
The trouble code pertains to the Coolant Heat Storage Tank or (CHST).The operation and diagnosis of the code would take more space to send in E Mail then I could send on this web sight. I would suggest you have you mechanic check the problem. You will need the proper tools to clear the code after the repair.
Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the quality if your answer. This way we know the answer helped and was useful. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger
SOURCE: code P0A93 for toyota PRIUS WHAT IS THE PROBLEM ?
P0A93 is an inverter cooling problem. The inverter is cooled by a dedicated cooling system, which consists of an electric water pump, cooling fan, and radiator. This cooling system is independent of the engine cooling system. The mechanic should check if there is sufficient amount of coolant for the inverter, check if the coolant hose is not bent or clogged, if the water pump / cooling fan motor connections are ok, and of course if both of the cooling fan motors are OK
SOURCE: engine code $7E8: engine
$7E8 and $7E9 are sub menus for the Engine and Transmission. You need to select one and press enter. It will then give you the code for that sub menu.
