There isn't one. The 2000 DTS has a VATS security system. The car has to have the right key in the ignition for the system to turn on the fuel pump and the ignition system. Without those, the car no run.
If your battery is dead, the key will stay in. Try giving it a jump. Also check to see if the steering wheel is locked. If it is, try turning the steering wheel somewhat vigerously whilst trying to remove the key. Short of that, it's a common problem with those year GM vehicles. Their ignition switches suck badly
the adjustment of the timing chain is hydraulic and self adjust to maintain correct chain tension. IF the mileage indicates that the chain may need replacing then these adjusters have to be compressed and pinned before chain removal . Check that any noise is not coming from valve rocker gear which wears out before most chains
Turn off your Cadillac CTS and
look below the front grille for the bottom pins that hold it in place.
Push these pins inward to disengage them.
2
Open the hood. Look for the pins
that hold the grille in place on the engine compartment side. Push in
these pins. Pull the grille off the front of the Cadillac CTS.
3
Remove the side pins from the
CTS fender on the side that has the headlight you wish to replace. Pull
the side fender away from the vehicle to prepare for removing the headlight.
4
Remove the three bolts on the top and rear of the headlight.
5
Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the headlight.
6
Push or pull the headlight
through the front of the Cadillac CTS and set it aside. This part may
require a lot of force if the headlight is stuck.
7
Insert the new headlight along
the runners upon which the previous headlight sat, and attach the wiring
harness. Reinstall the three bolts you removed earlier, as well as the
side finder and the grille.
It's the automatic shut down relay. It closes when the ignition goes on. It opens if ignition reference is lost by the PCM while the engine is running cutting power to the fuel pump, coil and injectors (as well as other things) shutting the engine down.
Open the power distribution center box near the battery and remove the asd relay that should shut it down. as for the problem itself, it could be a bad relay, a bad ignition switch or some odd ball thing that needs testing to find. Good luck!
I would check your fuel system first, like the fuel filter and then the fuel pump. it 7 years old and if you have had dirty fuel......... was it ok before going to the store?
Its possible you have a bad connection somewhere that heats up and causes a current drop. Also if you know what system is shutting down alot of times a relay can do this. Try switching relays. What would shut a car down is ECM/ Ignition or fuel pump relay. If you have others that are the same switch them.
