Just a possible "heads up" on this;
There are numerous complaints about the Chevy Equinox heating up and then not starting. This has been a known issue with these trucks for years.
According to the most common discrepancies, the heads heat up due to a faulty head gasket.
In many of the cases, the heads "warp" from the overheating, which could result in a major repair typically $1,500 - $2,000.
You can Google "Equinox Got Hot and Won't Start" and you will find hundreds of cases.....but most of them were caused by faulty head gaskets.
