My 2002 Grand am is have a passlock problem. The security light started flashing and would not let the car start. I did the reset per the manual and it started both times. Now the security light stays on. I am able to start it without any problem but the light stays on. I have tried a few thing such as cutting the yellow wire while the car is running. I also tried soldering in a resistor between the yellow and black wire but neither helped.
I discovered the hard way- ($85.00 later) Step 1: turn key to "on" position. step 2: open driver door. (security light should be flashing on and off) step 3: wait ten minutes with key in "on position and driver door open. step 4: when 10 minutes is up-(youll know-because security light will have stoped flashing after 10 minutes) close driver door ,turn key to "off" position, then turn key "on" to start. drives me crazy!! I have to do it to mine sometimes 2-5 times a day! GM doesnt have a fuel reset button etc. like fords do.
Dear friend-cutting the wiring is not a good idea,i suggest you do a diagnostic check and work from there.if you disconnect the battery for a while then reconnect, the light should go off.
