The fan should work off of the water temp. The fan will come on and off to keep the constant temp on the cooling water. If equipped with a second fan it is probably for the AC and will run when the A/C is on. If you think the fan should be on. Then If you know where the fan relay is check to see if it is hot, if real hot the relay may be going bad. Hope you know this when you turn the car off the fan can still come on if the water temp is to high. My thought fan going bad, temp sensor or relay may be the problem.. If you can touch the fan motor metal housing and it is real hot the fan man be going bad, remember the blades can start at any time.

Fairly normal procedure. Low speed kicks on at around 200 degrees. High speed kicks on at 225+

2010 Lincoln MKS Heated Seat on driver's side stopped working (Light in button turns off on its' own)

The most common cause of this problem is that the drivers seat heater grid is open or burned out. That is based on 25 years as a Ford dealer technician.

Why would my air conditioning in my Mitsubishi eclipse cool on #1 setting but kick off on any other setting above #1?

When you say "kick off," do you mean that the fan shuts off, or that the compressor cuts off? (Unclear.)
If the fan is shutting off, check your fan control switch, blower resistor, and blower motor.
If the compressor is cutting off, check your refrigerant level, and the compressor cycling switch.

Electric fan wont kick in jeep over heats replaced thermostat and two sender units

Sounds like your cooling fan relay is bad the jeep grand cherokees are known for this, first thing i would do is unplug the radiator cooling fan and run 2 jumper wires direct from the battery to the fan connector if the fan kicks on your fan motor is good and the relay is bad, if the fan doesnt kick on replace the fan motor with a new unit, the cooling fan relay on your particular model jeep is located under the passenger headlight and requires you remove the front bumper to replace it, however some people cut a small hole under the headlight to access the relay the faster way but if your not to keen on cutting holes in your car remove the bumper and replace the relay if the fan checks out and you wont be overheating anymore...

Car is overheating but the radiator hose is not pressurized. the hoses from the overflow are though. could this be the thermostat going out

hello, try this, 1. when your car is cooled down. remove the radiator cap from the radiator. then fill the radiator to the brim. then start your engine on idle. let your engine warm up a while while watching the coolant from the brim of the radiator. try feeling the upper radiator hose, during the time you have started the engine. you should feel the upper hose heat up quite a bit. watch the coolant flow, if the coolant flows free like a stream then stops a few seconds later, your thermostat valve is doing its job. going back to the coolant flowing, you must not see any air bubbles just like soap suds flowing with the coolant. aside from this your cooling fans should kick-in after a few minutes and automatically cuts-out after a few minutes also. IF YOU SEE BUBBLES, THIS IS A SIGN THAT THE SOME OR ONE OF THE VALVES ARE NOT SEATING WELL, OR IN WORST CASES, THE ENGINE STALLED DUE TO AN OVERHEATED ENGINE; THE CYLINDER HEAD  COULD BE WARPED. that the worst thing that could happen. IF THE FANS DON'T CUT-IN AUTOMATICALLY, CHECK FOR BUSTED FUSES; IF ITS THE FUSES ARE OK, THEN THE FANS THEMSELVES SHOULD BE CHECKED IF THE FANS WORK AFTER DIRECTLY CONNECTING IT TO THE BATTERY(this should be done at a service shop), THEN CHECK THE RELAYS, AND TEMPERATURE SENDERS.

well, these are few steps that could be done if your a do-it-yourselfer. hope some of this works for you. bye

The radiator cooling fan is not working. Upon

assuming fuse and relay are good..no fan should be running when the engine is cool/cold, the only time the fan should be running when it reach over operation temperature which then the fan kick on to bring the temperature back down to it operation temperature. both fan work in sync with one another, addition cooling is needed when the ac is running. when the last time have you replace thermostat and Thermos sensor/switch. I would replace both unit if you have not done so. The thermos/switch will turn the fan on when it reach certain temperature and cut off when it sense the temperature drop in the engine.

Air conditioning works when car first starts up (Volvo s40) then stops cooling after a while (usually when I am stopped in traffic) -- then if I turn it off and back on after a few minutes it works again....

It sounds like your cooling fans are not working.Need to check the cooling fan fuses, and the cooling fan relays. There is also a high side switch mounted somewhere on the high side of the ac system that cuts the fans on,or kicks them up on high speed when the ac system gets to high on the high side of the system. This switch may also cut the compressor off.I would check the fuses and relays for these fans first, this is more likely the problem. Is the car running normal temperature? If not the fans may not be running at all.Have them checked. The fan or fans may be bad them selfs. If I can be any more help, let me know.>>[email protected]

Here's a wierd cooling fan issue

Thats not too weird as the car would kick on the fans at full speed when it detects a problem with the sensor. Your ECU is not reading the sensor properly and needs to be checked by Ford. I hope this helps you.
