What can cause starting issues with my car

My cars starts good sometimes, but other times it will click the first time I try to start it. When it is not starting right the airbag light stays lit. When it starts good it goes off. Tonight when I tried to start it the headlights blinked when it clicked, the switch was off. I have had the battery, alternator, and starter checked, they checked out good. I'm beginning to think it may be in the ignition switch but I am not sure if that can cause that trouble.

I have a 2010 Dodge Journey that has issues starting. Battery and starter are new. The car will start sometimes with no issue, most of the time it makes a clicking sound a couple of seconds before it...

Try putting gear selector in park . Could be a issue with park neutral safety switch . Or starter relay or battery cables or connections .voltage drop test starter main battery cable .
Starter Voltage Drop
Or could be a problem with the TIPM - totally integrated power module , dodge , chrysler , jeep have recall on TIPM .

Can my battery amps be causing my 2004 dodge status not to crank? Its abattery.

the cold cranking amps rating can be found on the battery sticker. the higher the number the better it is since amperage is the flow of current and will withstand longer battery use by all electrical and electronic components on a car. amperage of a battery is also affected by temperature so if the battery cca rating is low and you live in cold weather it will cause slow cranking. your starter is only as good as the voltage and amperage contained within your battery. so start with a good battery before condemning a starter.

1999 landcruiser has intermittent starting problems. Sometimes it starts fine. Other times turns over once then nothing. Other times clicks but no turn-over. Other times no click, no start. Battery is good...

I had a similar problem with my landcruiser sometimes it would start no probs at all and other times it would start to crank and then stop and you had to try a couple of times to start it. It ended up being the starter motor contacts failing.

Possible vacuum leak on 09 crv

96 to 2002 Civic, Accord, CRV automatics: The shift solenoid pairs, usually 2 pairs - upper and lower, are very sensitive and get sticky with age. I don't know how many miles you have on your car, but its usually rewarding to take them off and clean them and test them with a good 12v battery. The plunger should move an 1/8th inch with a good snap. If one is stuck whack it face down on a clean piece of paper, blow it out with a compressor and try again. Solenoids can cause starting out in the wrong gear, missing gears, creep in neutral, drag, bad downshifting, shudder, etc... Lower front solenoids are under a metal cap with 3 10mm bolts. Passengers side. Down there at the rear passenger side of the trans is the speed sensor, make sure the connector is clean and wires not damaged. Most of the time it is stuck or weak solenoids that cause these shifting issues. Each solenoid works on a separate gear actuation pathway.

At times the cars engine will not turn over but all the electrical components work. has a new battery. and if you try again hours later it starts

Your starter solenoid is likely the cause of your intermittent starting problem.

The solenoid sometimes will develop an issue where it does not engage to allow current draw from the battery by the starter, which causes intermittent starting issues.

If you hear a "click", during the times that the engine will not turn over, this is the most likely culprit. Replacement of the starter will solve the issue.
