Battery is fine. No start, lights/ a/c part of dash works not odometer lit up or fuel gauge movement, I get nothing. The nite b4 I had car running opened door w/lights on, Alarm went off, Had to shut door restart to turn lights off, next morning no start nothing, tried jump no luck Tried to reset key fob, can my older key wear out?
I heard you, battery is fine but needs to be tested. can it deliver the required cold cranking amps? i had experience like that. measured 12+ volts at battery terminals, & hesitantly tried to jump but no go. took out battery for free recharge, they told me bad battery.
Testimonial: "THANK YOU THEY had not ckd the ECM someone on here mentioned it now they say they THINK THATS WHAT IT IS OUTRAGEOUS PRICE SHEESH mechanic told me my car would not allow his tester to read, GETTING WORRIED HERE TY AGAIN"
some cars (specifically nissan) have anti-theft feature, to reset if it was triggered (anti-theft light at dashboard remains steady on): ignition key-in, three times on-off (need not to remove key while doing-& don't switch to start), then try to start. search the web (or your manual) if your car has a feature like that. did they check the battery or used a well known good one? if not, borrow a well known good battery, install it yourself. who knows, you may be able to drive it home. you can try also a cheap ODBII scanner (i'm using a $30 scanner from amazon to diagnose a 2007 benz) to diagnose it yourself. the diagnostic port should be near or around the steering column & it's accessible. most refutable shop can give a (type-written) report from their tester/scanner. i'm skeptical the ecm is bad if the shop can't give you a written diagnostic report. good luck.
YES I am not beleivin them either, they said car would not allow machine to ck it. Could I have triggered it by? *Ive never done this b4* Opened driver door with motor running, lights on, alarm went off, I dont have bliner n e where dash etc. N E way I had to close the door, turn off engine and restart to turn headlights off. Shut car off, hit key fop to lock and it would not shut off again, the ECM sounded logical but I was not in that much water, since shop has had it for a week I didnt have the chance of it drying out and seeing if it would restart, I really am afraid they are trying me TYVM ps I did try like 4 dif ways to reset key fob, I was upset and frustrated
"they said car would not allow machine to ck it. " (car refusing to be tested?) that is a BS (brown sugar?, lol) yes, they are clear that they don't have the proper instrument (tester). if they are honest, they would suggest you to take your car to other mechanic who has the proper tester. instead they want you to shell out ridiculous amount of money ($,$$$) for their guess (they think, the ecm is?). if i were you, & have a free towing (AAA premium membership= free unlimited miles, not affiliated with them. if you don't have, call other club.) i'll take it home. i think you don't have to pay the mechanic, they can't charge you, can't give you a "print out of Diagnostic report". (wonder if they could charge you for "i think?") have someone replace your battery. (may not be too bad if battery is 4-5 yrs. old)(you could also make a bargain with the tow truck driver to remove & replace the battery.) call the dealer if your car has anti-theft that needs to be reset if it was tripped. call other mechanics, make sure they could provide you with a "print out of the diagnostic report", they'll charge you for that, so you're entitled to have it. you can do the math (price-wise?). please don't worry, it won't help fix the car. good luck.
