SOURCE: jaguar x type washer failure

it is more likely the wiper switch has bad contacts or the washer pump is defective, go to the pump and have someone hold wash and check for a 12 volt sigal at the washer fluid pump, if no siganl replace the wiper/washer switch, and if u do have the signal at the pump then the pump is defective.

SOURCE: x-type jaguar automatic (gear box fault)

I have a 2002 X type (2 litre. done 44000 miles), dash showed gear box problem, (red circle light up). I pulled out and turned the engine off. 5 minutes later turned the engine on. The engine running but the car would not drive either in drive or reverse. Turned the engine off again and on the car driving but not much power. The care is taken to the Jag. dealer and told is misfiring + some gear box faults. Suggesting to change some coils and see (cost about £200+). also possible need to change the gear box costing about £2500+. Please advice. Shall I go ahead with the repair? Should I part exchange.

SOURCE: Jag X TYPE Diesel Black smoke coming from exhaust on acceleration

i had this problem and thought the fuel filter oil filter needed replacing so i have just had a service done but problem is still there but not as bad. been told it could be the AGR valve or a split pipe going to it which recuirculates unused fuel back to burn again. therefore unspent fuel is coming out of the exhaust causing the black smoke. i am still looking for the answer aswell, hope this helps.

SOURCE: Jaguar x type 2001 ABS light came on and then the

There is a strong chance that one of the stator rings on the rear driveshaft has broken away. They are located on the end of the rear driveshafts and after time they get corroded and will drop off. The ring is part of the hall effect sensor so when the wheel rotates there is no signal from wich ever side is broken thus throwing up an error.

Easiest way to check is to remove both wheels and look where the driveshaft slides into the hub from the rear and check the condition of the ring wich looks like a ladder. If its not there or sections are missing there is your problem.

There is a kit that you can buy wich changes the end of the shaft rather than the whole driveshaft.

2003 XKR dashboard illumination goes off when main lights switched on or if dash lights do stay on after starting they go off when main beam is operated.

is this car the all alluminium xk model ? if so it sounds like a bad earth the earth studs are all bonded to the body and are prone to detatching from the body and causing all strange probs. the favorite ones are both front behind the wheel arch liners, if its the older xk still sounds like a bad earth poss behind the headlamps. the only other probs i had was wires coming detatched/poor connection from the column switch, hope this helps

Have a bad earth connection has management light comes on and emissions are high can you help

the most likeley cause of your problem is a faulty lambda sensor.why do you think it is a bad earth? get someone with a obd 2 code reader to extract the fault codes out of the engine control module, that will help to diagnose the problem. there are 4 sensors 2 for each bank of cylinders, could be 1 or more of them , hope this helps.

Hi Edward, Follow the wiring harness to the earth connection and check to make sure it is making good contact. Seems to me you have a bad grounding to the chassis. Regards John

My check engine light is on in my Jaguar X-type 2003, and the car just failed the emission test. The code that they gave us was "P0057." What does this code mean?

P0057 Definition: O2 Sensor heater circuit low- 22
Probable causes:
1. Open or short circuit condition
2. Open fuse
3. Failed HO2S 11 (i.e., bad O2 Sensor).

Got this off the Jaguar Forums.com for you.

Hi there, 2001 s type jag, rear fogs not fully coming on....the bulb element glows but will not fully light...any ideas

Either poor grounding near the lights or a high-resistance connection in the power wiring to the lights. Possible bad control switch or loose fuse connection. Try removing the bulbs, then replacing them several times to clean the socket connections. If this helps, spray some WD-40 into both sockets and turn the bulbs several times. Hope this helps!

I have a 2005 s type left rear signal light dim and right one comes on dimly

This is normally a sign of a poor earthing point or corroded connections within the lighting panel.
Open the lighting cluster and clean all the bulb contact points and check cables earthing points.
Hope this helps - good luck.
