SOURCE: for about 2 weeks my car has been hard to start

sounds like the battery wire to the starter is possibly the culprit, it may have a bad spot in it not allowing enough voltage to the starter. also depending on the brand solenoid you purchased it is possible to get a bad one. i recommend borg warner electrical products. i hope this helps.

SOURCE: Have 94 ram 1500 replaced starter and

are you sure you got the wires back on tight? Also it sounds like the bendex is not kicking out like it is supose to.....Did you change the starter cylenoied?

even some new starters are bad, it doesent happen much but it does happen. You might even take the starter back out and run Jumper cables to the starter. See if the bendex will kick out and stay out untial you diconect the starter......Sorry for your run of bad luck and I hope this is of some help.

Could try the crank sensor, that is where I would start. Next would be the timing & compression.

SOURCE: won't start

If you have a spare key try that, if you have a security light on and flashing in the dash you have a fault with the anti theft system and that must be repaired to get the system working again.

1965 mustang starter fires but won't engage flywheel. it is a brand new starter

Doesn't matter. The forks inside the starter may be missing or broke off or bad spring in starter that pushes the gear out. Try new started. Starter may have to be shimmed to make contact with flywheel. Starter may be kicking out but not engaging flywheel.

My '99 saturn sl won't start. the battery has a charge, and the alternator is good, but it won't turn over.

Hi Vernon, There could be a number of different reasons why your vehicle is failing to start. The battery voltage could be dropping during start and become unable to engage the starter motor to turn the engine. You can check this by trying the key with the head lights switched on. If the lights become very dim, you'll need to check the battery, meaning clean the terminals and then try to start with a jump from another battery. If you achieve start up and it fails again the following morning, you will probably need to replace the battery. There could be a problem with the starter relay or a loose contact for the starter motor, most lik3ely the one connecting to the soliniod. It would be good to know some additional information, such as does a clicking sound come from the starter when engaged? Is there a perceptible drop in voltage output when the starter is engaged? does the enine turn at all? Try what I've suggested and if that does not solve the problem answer the questions and let me know anything else which you may think is relevant. Regards John

I have a 97 Crown Vic/w police interceptor....I asked a question several days ago because of issuses I'm having with my car. The car starts sometimes, with no problems. Other times...it won't...

Sounds like its a starter problem,if you can pull the starter off take it to an auto parts store,

there are many locations that have equipment to put a load on the starter, and they will be

able to tell if its bad. once you pull the starter off, if you can check the teeth on the fly wheel,

if there is a dead spot, the starter could spin and not engage the flywheel. I hope it's the

starter. the bendix on the starter the teeth that engage the flywheel could also have dead

spot's. and not engage all the time. good luck!
