I have been getting the code p0740 it says something about the torque converter clutch circuit. it doesn't seem to be going into over drive. dose anyone have any suggestions I can try.

On some cars, there is a TCC solenoid in the transmission which can be replaced by removing the bottom pan. In some cars this solenoid can't be accessed without major disassembly.

    the last time I drove it everything seemed to work fine do you think the tcc solenoid could just be stuck

    You might try changing the fluid and trans filter if you have not done so recently. Solenoid could have hung on dirt particle.

    after looking at my connectors I found the wire that controls the tcc solenoid was pushed back in the connector once I fixed this everything works great again. thanks for the help though.

Ok so in search of a factory amp on my 2006 GMC sierra 1500 extended cab v6 5.3l I by mistake broke a wire behind my glove compartment and not even 2 miles down the road have two codes p2761 and p0740...

The codes translate as:-
P2761 = Torque Converter Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Control Circuit/Open. P0740 =Torque Converter Clutch Circuit/Open.
Sounds like you might have damaged the wires for the sensors on the clutch for your automatic transmission. Get a good auto electrician to look at it.

P0740 NISSAN - Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit Fault
Possible causes
  • Low transmission fluid level

On some Honda vehicles the P0740 code may be set by an overheating torque converter problem which is caused by an insufficient flow to the torque converter release circuit.

P0740 Honda Description
The torque converter clutch solenoid valve is activated, with the gear in D4, by the Transmission Control Module (TCM) in response to signals sent from the vehicle speed and the Engine Control Module (ECM). Lock-up piston operation will then be controlled. When the torque converter clutch solenoid valve is activated, the torque converter lockup clutch will engage creating a 1 to 1 RPM ratio between the transmission input shaft and the rotational speed of the torque converter.
Lock-up operation, however, is prohibited when A/T fluid temperature is too low.
When the accelerator pedal is depressed (less than 2/8) in lock-up condition, the engine speed should not change abruptly. If there is a big jump in engine speed, there is no lock-up.

Got this code p0740, tcc circuit malfunction, I would like to replace a TCC Solenoid how do i go about it?

Possible Causes:
- Low transmission fluid level
- Dirty transmission fluid
- Faulty torque converter clutch solenoid valve
- Torque converter clutch solenoid valve harness or connectors
- Torque converter clutch solenoid valve circuit is open or shorted

Check your fluids 1st if they are low add fluid, and if they are dirty do a flush and a new filter. This usually will take care of it and save you money. TCCSV is a bit pricey try the cheaper route first. But it is located inside the transmission or on the side of the transmission. I dont recall exactly. Its something I would let a shop do though unless you have high mechanical skills.

P0740 code showing in my 2000 Honda Odyssey

P0740 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Malfunction
The problem could be the torque converter itself or the sensor circuit for the clutch.
Best to have a Transmission Expert look at it to see if any further damage has occurred.
