I have a 2006 rear wheel drive Kia Sorento with the following codes. P0716, p0705, p0721 and shifting issues. Falls out of reverse and gets stuck in 4th I think. I purchased a transmission input sensor (turbine speed sensor) but I cannot find its location on the rear wheel drive version of my car.

SOURCE: input/turbine speed sensor circuit

Your speed sensor, is located on top of the transaxle, near the starter. To access it, remove the battery, then remove the battery tray (4 10mm bolts). You will see wires coming from the lower oxygen sensor, and they snap into the bracket that holds the speed sensor in place. The actual speed sensor has a 2 wire clip on it, and is held in place by the bracket and a 10mm bolt.

SOURCE: I have a code p0715, which is the input turbine speed sensor

The input/turbine speed sensor has nothing to do with the turbo. It is transmission related and is a circuit malfunction. I am having the same problem and it causes my car to downshift into 3rd gear (computer's fail safe gear) on the highway. The sensor is located above the transmission housing, and doesn't require you to take apart the tranny. I am having trouble finding the part number for this and where to buy it. Any help would be nice.

SOURCE: P0705 Transmission range sensor circuit

The sensor should be located where the shifter cable is attached to the trans. It will have a plug with several wires. Usually there will be a way to align it, like a hole with a pin when it should be in neutral.

I have a 2006 Kia Sorento check engine light came on after high rpm trying to get out of a ditch hooked diagnostic up and two codes popped up p0700 & p0716 what do I need to do now

1, find out what the codes mean, this will give you an idea of what to look for.
2, just type each code into an ENGINE CODE website. (type kia sorento engine codes into google etc then type the codes into the search bar. do it on as many sites as you can find.
That may indicate what the codes are sensing.
However from what you have said (ditch, high revs) I would get it on a ramp and check all of the wires that are underneath the car. One may be damaged, pulled out of connector etc. it may also just need a service.
To clear the codes disconnect the battery for 1/2 hour.

I am looking for a ECU pinout or a Diagram. I am throwing a "turbine overspeed" code (P0716) on a non turbo car. Also P0721 and P0705 On second ECU with the same issue.

Hello. You are confusing the turbine over speed control sensor module of the car's transmission, with a turbo charger- a forced air induction device, of a car's engine. One has nothing to do with the other.

The turbine over-speed control module is basically a sensor that reads the speed of the transmission's input shaft (torque converter) in relation to the speed of the output shaft- transmission speed ratio/gear.

Simply put- when the P0716 error code displays, it means that the ECM has detected the value(s) of the input sensor as being out of range, like being too high or too low; or that there is some bad wiring issue in the circuit.

When this happens, the subsequent P0721 output speed sensor and P0705 transmission range sensor circuit malfunction error codes appear- and does not necessarily mean that the entire transmission components (electronic modules, sensors, or mechanical parts) have malfunctioned leading to a major transmission overhaul.

It is most likely that the Input Turbine Speed sensor needs to be replaced. Take the car to a well qualified SAE certified transmission specialist who has precise diagnostic and transmission control readers and are able to reset the computerized transmission modules once the repair is made.

I got code p0716 and p0721 on 2005 honda accord ex 4 cylinder. Car won't go into reverse unles i shift to 1, back to R several times before the reverse engages.

when was the last time you replaced your transmission filter and oil.

you might want to do it and save your transmission and lots of money.
