You can go to Autozone and ask them to put on the code reader and find out what the problem is and diagnose from there. Once defined , you can then repair the problem (hopefully) and the light will go out.

Sometimes it can just be as simple as the gas cap needs to be taken off and then put back on and make sure to get 5 - 10 clicks on it. See if that helps.
