2006 solara convertible. Recently the passenger side door would not always lock with the driver side. Now the door will not open at all. The interior handle doesnt seem to be hooked up to anything and the exterior handle is stuck. Is there any way to get the door open so i can take the panel off and see what is going on? Thanks, Nick

The front seatblet retractor springs have weakened. Unfortunatly, there are no "user serviceable parts" on them. They would have to be replaced. How many miles is on it? If you have low mileage, the Toyota Customer Experience Center may provide you some assistance, as the belt replacements are quite expensive. I'd call the CEC and explain your dilemma. you will have to take the panel off to see why the inner lock/activator isnt working properly, besides youll have to take it off to fix it anyway.Maybe as simple as a bent handle to lock rod being bent and no longer long enough to activate lock correctly.youll just have to look and see.Let me know what you find

Front

1. Close the front door glass completely.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the door screen.
4. Disconnect the front door lock actuator connector.
5. Disconnect the rods and the cables.
6. Remove the screws, and remove the front door lock.
7. Remove the screws, and remove the front door lock actuator from the front door lock.
8. To install, reverse removal procedure.

1. Close the front door glass completely.

4. Disconnect the sliding door lock actuator connector.
5. Disconnect the rods and the cables.
6. Remove the bolts, and remove the sliding door remote controller.
7. Remove the screws, and remove the sliding door lock actuator from the sliding door remote controller.
8. To install, reverse removal procedure.

You probably won't get it off from outside. The two bolts go from inside out I believe.
